About the PGM, all the people that I know that own one say they're great in every way but that's their opinion. It's really hard when it comes to stuff like this because you won't know until you try them yourself. It's pointless judging on guitars based on other peoples OPINIONS.

It's a good job I ended up liking my RG770 because I only bought it based purely on looks off of Ebay.

and has anyone had experience with the peavey 5150 series?

indeed, it is a shame how Gilbert shows the same old stuff. I mean Figure 4a is directly out of Intense Rock I. But he is probably hiding the good stuff from GW noobs.

i need some good suggestions on amps, half stacks preferably

been checkin out peavey 5150 series, 6505 all that stuff

i've been looking at guitars a lot lately. these are the ones ive been checkin out

ibanez jem, the white one
ibanez xiphos
ibanez PG
edwards e-al-120
ibanez rga121 prestige
esp eclipse

anyone had experience with any of these? ive only played the rga121

I've had my Jem for a few months now, and it's a dream to play. I took some adjusting in the beginning, but i got used to it pretty easily. The sound is awesome aswell, I for one didn't buy the jem because I liked Vai's tone, I just happened to try it and i "fell in love" with it. You can get a wide variety of tones, and it will make the shittiest amps sound good. A cool thing is the scalloping on frets 21-24, which makes it a bit easier to do vibrato up there. If i ever get another guitar, it's probably going to be another jem (different colour though).

But if you wan't the super distorted sound maybe you should try out something like and ESP with EMG's. But anyways, if you're gonna pay that much money for a guitar, it all comes down to personal preference as Mitch said, so look at a few guitars and try them out.

@emptifier: I played the 5150 for ca. 30 minutes, so I guess I didn't get all it has... The distortion sound is awesome, but the clean sound is !IMO! pretty shitty. That's why I bought the Powerball.

Try the fireball, it is even cheaper than th peavy, and it sound like hell (in a positive way).

All in all: It's all about personal preference, noone will ever help you

Framus cobra

I played one with a jackson RR1 a while back, sweet cleans and monster distorion, seriously this thing is the shit.

Mystique, I had a listen to a few songs off of that album but I didn't like it. The guitars are kinda widdly but it's that annoying type of riff with those vocals that I hate. Kinda remind me of Funeral For A Friend.

Bump for the jam again, I've only had 1 solo so far. I might work on mine tomorrow or Wed.


For inhe and any other MAB fans, I tabbed the intro riff thing from RAIN FOREST. Really cool.

Cool stuff, i bought Total Guitar some months ago, and there was a vid where MAB showed some licks from Rain Forest. One of them was the riff at 3:10 in the vid you posted.
