LDB's dual solo's sweeps. The ones shaped more or less like this moving them all along the fretboard.

E--6--3-----------3---6-
B--------5-----5---------
G-----------6------------

Ah, thx!

And what is this?

E--6--3-----------3---6-
B--------4-----4---------
G-----------3------------

and this?

E--6--3-----------3---6-
B--------3-----3---------
G-----------3------------

A full diminished chord has an interval of a minor 3rd for every note. There are four notes in any diminished chord, and can have 4 different names, based around each individual note.

Arcane, your examples are:

Eb major

Gmin

When learning sweep stuff, it's helpful to learn the inversions of every chord. Emin has 3 notes, so there are 3 different notes that the sweep can start from...E, G or B.

E-G-B (root position):

e-----7-12-7----------------------------------------------
b---8--------8----notice E is the lowest note...the root...---
g-9------------9------------------------------------------

G-B-E (1st inversion)

e-------12-15-12-----------------------------------------
b----12----------12--G is now the lowest note...-----------
g-12----------------12------------------------------------

B-E-G (2nd inversion)

e--------15-19-15-----------------------------------
b-----17----------17--B is now the lowest note...----
g-16-----------------16-----------------------------

Then, you start again, an octave higher.

It's also useful to know WHERE the root note is in each shape for one chord and its inversions.

Theory lesson over. :p

THE WAR MACHINE

HI BILLY MAYS HERE FOR THE WAR MACHINE

would that be like 12 15 19?

That'd be Emin. Eaug would be if you did 12 16 20.

A full diminished has a minor 3rd as every interval, so...

E-12-15-18-21-24-

An augmented has a major 3rd as every interval, so...

E-12-16-20-24-

Mitch, thank you! I have nothing to do the next days so I think I will keep learning theory in all of his ways!

No problem! I love teaching theory! :kickass:

But yeah, if you go through all the Eminor arpeggios, learn where the root notes are and then do the same with Amin, then Gmaj, then Dmaj etc. You'll get to recognise any sweep just by looking at the tab.

I dont think so. A normal diminished chord consists of 3 notes: Root, minor third and diminished five.

You are talking about diminished seventh chord (°7) which consists of 4 notes: root, minor third, diminished five and diminished seven. This chord consists only of minor third intervals and even the octave is a minor third.

That is what I was referring to. The 3 note version is just a diminished triad, but it's not totally clear as to what one it is, if there's no 7th, as you can either have a half-diminished (min7b5th) or full diminished (°7), which is just a semitone's difference.

so dudes, economical crisys and stupid mf goverment is fucking up my plans (again). I need a nice guitar suitable for shred, rock, metal and bit of some clean stuff, must have whammy and 24 frets. At the moment i'm thinking about buying ibanez rg 320 dxfm (trans grey). Yay or Nay.
