Pure SS is donkey cunts, i have a 350W SS and it's ass, cant wait till i buy a proper amp(read: all tube)

On the subject of amps, I'm going to beg my parents for a Marshall Class 5 for my birthday. Only 5 watts, but it's all tubes and has a Celestion speaker. And 5 watts is plenty for home use and recording anyway.

@TheKid - I installed an x2n in my ibanez rg (basswood I think), and it honestly sounds almost like an active. It has that same attack and "bite" in the high end. I like it, palm muting sounds tighter.

Those Gibson LP's posted a page back are nice. I like the rootbeer finish. Oh, and I wouldn't mind having that Jackson Dinky or the Agile 7 string

Speaking of seven strings and Gibson, has any posted pics of the new (?) 7 string Gibson Explorer? Matt Heafy is playing them now. Don't know how that doesn't conflict with his Dean endorsement. Dean sucks anyways, so maybe he just wanted to play a real guitar for a change lol.

Like Brent said, they're with their former endorsers now.
And seriously, a 24.75 inch scale on a 7-string? No thanks.

And thanks for the advice on that.

I greatly agree with this too. I would get a valvestate if I had the money. I had a Vox that was a hybrid and it had amazing tone for what it was. Don't get me wrong, I like tube amps and all, but Hybrids are definitely my favorite. I can't really say I like pure SS so much. After my Vox though it has definitely sealed my mind on what I want, and Randalls seem to be pretty nice, so I'm going to get the Ninja V2 when I have enough money :)

My other guitarist has a Marshall valvestate and I agree it sounds pretty good. I don't remember what model but its the one with a shitload of knobs/features which is pretty cool too.

He's looking to buy a Randall as well, He wants the T2 from what I remember which is also a hybrid of sorts, its got some tube in the poweramp section but I believe it's just for tone and not for driving the amp's power. I know that it's like 400watts or something ridiculous for tons of headroom

I haven't heard the T2 in person but I do remember my friend had a cheaper all solid state Randall years ago and it sounded AMAZING

I want to get a 5150 this summer, it's still one of my favorite sounding amps.

class 5 needs to be cranked to get distorted, and it's more of a rock distortion I believe.

350 Watts? For what, so it doesn't crackle at high volumes?

Is that too small for you? Is it, kid?

Same. They seem to be the all-around metal work-horse amp. Great crunchy rhythm tones. I'm probably gonna sell my ada mp1 (never use it) and hybrid power amp to get one.

Matt and Corey both left Dean. Matt is with Gibson now I think, and Corey is with Jackson again.

Corey's CS Jackson guitar :

Shit.
Well I've also been checking out the Blackheart Handsome Devil, looks pretty good.

Got one Channel also.
Maybe I got you wrong, but if your planning on buy on of those 'new trend' small amps with little watt but cool tubes for metal, forget it. IMO they're not bad for those cranked clean sounds and you need in blues or the sound that all those Indie band got, but for High Gain sounds you should get some Transistor amp for the same price.
tube amps are awesome but especially the Handsome Devil (which is said to have a little more head room than other 15 watt all tube amps) is a amp for nice clean sounds, but for High Gain sounds you will need some good pedal, too
if you're planning on using it with a pedal, its a good choice.

I am selling my gp-1000. it is an 88 model, made after the marshall and i am putting it here before ebay because i know there is a lot of people searching for that sound. i loved this preamp, i have to let go of it because i recently bought an engl se head and im up to my neck in debt. it is in great condition, i even sent it to lee a few weeks ago so he could give it a small check up and repair if needed. but i am very sad to let this go, but anyways if you guys want pics just message me to andresmorare@gmail.com, also looking for about 450-500 dollars.

Well, It's not the HD-5 you were talking about. It's a 2 channel amp.

Sounds like it has a really clear tone too!

Shit cameras or shit micing on all of em though.

EDIT: I think that's something the kid could look into though. the combo is about 380€ or so. Don't know about the head. Seems like it can do metal pretty good and be versatile at the same time.

Yeah I was talking about the Blachheart amp the kid mentioned.
Not some other amp
