Actually researching Grados as we speak. I cancelled my order on the SportaPros, contemplating going with the PortaPros as my go to gym headset (Go ahead laugh). With attent I was mindful of all the gym frolicing douches today, and nearly 90% of em' were sporting Ipud earbuds, ugh! The Grados will be for home use of course, the Hawkings for Stallone like vascularic carnage.

Ken, what's your opinion on Grado sr-225i vs sr-80i? Worth the extra c-note?

I think so, but you'd be fine with the 80's tbh. The 225's will give you better bass. The sr80 is the absolute best value for any headphone period. It's my go-to headphone. I need to buy a new one though cuz the v part of the cord is breaking and the left channel goes in and out if I dont properly position it. Because the earpieces rotate 360 degrees to infinity, you gotta be careful.

i have the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003LPTAYI/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000065BPB&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=18ZA2PSBBJKSR47E3E42"]HD 202[/ame] and they sound great although the cord sucks and too thin.

how do you guys store your headphones when not in use btw?

They're more detailed and open but a lot brighter. The Senns are dark and veiled. The Grados are extremely easily driven by anything and better for rock/metal because they are punchy but they lack good bass extension unless you go far up the line.

re: Aurel; I just left my HD280s on my dusty and I do mean dusty stereo speakers. I'll probably take better care of the Grados though. Anybody ever test drive Alessandro's MS-1s? They're supposed to be on par with the Grado 125s, and a fraction of the cost. Bleh, decisions, decisions!

re:Ken; Heh, I'm not big on bass, so I'm fine with them being weak in this area. I have $112 in my amazon account from taking my loose change to coinstar for gift credit, so the 225's look fucking appealing, considering it would only come out to $80 in "real" money.

All right, was very tempted to get the 225i, but going to kike it and get the 80i with L-Cush bowls for an additional $20. If I'm ear raped, I'll save up for a pair further up the line. Plus it's pretty evident that cans are for the most part, fragile as shit, and I don't see no damn life time warranty as what comes with the Hawkings.

Doesn't it also make a difference what you plug phones into? Haven't seen that discussed yet.
