Heathen Crusade

Mike, LuAnn & Jerry - you guys have made a friend for life. I can't tell you how many times I laughed so hard, rocked out together, shared some Scandanavian culture together and even worried for our lives together, LOL. What a weekend. I hope we can all make HC an annual gathering, if not even more often.

Just caught this. Jason, you sir, fucking rule :kickass: The feeling's mutual.
HCII wouldn't have been quite the same without hanging out with yourself and Ali.

CHEESE STEAK!!! :headbang:

HC2 sets the bar on what other shows are judged IMO.

If anything went wrong at that show, it was fixed before anyone realised.

Im sure I met a few of you there. I can't put names to faces to screen names.

Thanks for not making fun of our canadian accents. Cept for the doods from Mael Mordha.... who got a kick out of it, lol.

HC has definitely raised the bar. The fact that they've done it twice in a row now proves it wasn't a fluke.

Also, here's a THANK YOU message from the promoters with some links to band pics.

Support this *underground* fest. :kickass:

Just out of curiosity, which "bar" do you feel they've raised?

I don't think he meant it to be taken so literally or objectively, I think it's more of a subjective thing. I would see the "bar" as having an extremely well organized festival that comes closest to catering to the styles of music we primarily listen to, in addition to having a great crowd with great camaraderie, plus nice sound at the venue along with a nice selection of merch, etc. I would be in agreement with this subjective version of "the bar". After having been through it two years in a row, the festival and the promoters have now earned our trust and have thus "raised the bar" for us personally.

Subjectively for you, that bar may represent Progpower, and I wouldn't be able to debate that point.

raised the bar = so far, 2/2 for the win

I actually went to HC 2 thinking it would be good, but it couldn't match HC 1.....and it did! The funny thing is, I thought it becoming a 2 day event would be a bad thing but I was wrong. Becoming a 2 day fest just made it even better.

I'm was just trying to get a better understanding of what, specifically, he was referring to.

I think the festival is very, very well run, especially for a fest as young as it is.

Again, it depends on what bar we're talking about. There are certain aspects of PP that are hard to top. The festival is flawelessly organized, from the announcement of bands to the communication with the core audience The event itself runs like clockwork. However, as the festival matures, it has its own issues to deal with.

Sure, I was just trying to throw an idea of what I thought he might be referring to out there for discussion. His actual answer seemed even more cut and dry.

Unfair? I think a sentence accidentally got cropped there.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens in the future to try and keep the festival at the forefront of U.S. metal festivals. But we definitely both agree on the top notch organization, that much, it seems, will never change.
