Mental disabilities are not always passed on to offspring. Though severe mental retardation is fairly likely to be passed on, genetic predisposition in offspring isn't the case with milder cases of retardation in parents. Remember, too, that parents of average or high intelligence stand a chance to have a child who suffers from retardation. These are among the reasons why the United States and other developed nations do not practice eugenics and sterilize any longer.

Still feels like the chances for an incest baby to be born with defects isn't any bigger than a kid with two disabled parents.

Possibly true. Tbh, incest laws are in place because fucking your sister is perverse. Gay marriage is accepted because homosexuality is not.

That's a bit off the mark actually. It's probably the actual reason but it's definitely not the official explanation in any PC Western country.

What I'm getting at is the inconsistency of it all. At least countries like Egypt or Saudi Arabia can be consistent and say that both incest and homosexuality is illegal because it's perverse. When all of a sudden homosexuality becomes kosher it's strange that there can still exist other sex laws for consensual adults.

Agreed. I do not see any issue with incest, aside from the fact it makes me physically and gastronomically uncomfortable. Which is similar to what some people might feel about homosexuality.
