I am curious as to how and where most of the people here enjoy enjoy their Metal. Headphones/no headphones/at the computer/in your room/in the car? Things of that nature.

I would say that a large majority of my listening takes place with headphones on at the computer. I am on the computer a lot and it is easy to listen while I use the internet. I listen to just about everything here.

The next two most common places would be in my car, and in bed at night before I go to sleep.

I always have music on in the car, no matter where I am going. The music I listen to in the car tends to be music that does not require a lot of attention and albums with shorter songs, so that songs do not get split up when getting out and doing things.

The music I listen to at night in bed tends to be Black Metal. The right kind of Black Metal is very relaxing and makes relaxing and getting ready for sleep a much easier process as i often have trouble getting to sleep. This is also with headphones 99% of the time.

Unfortunately the way I listen to Metal the least is in my room on my stereo system through my speakers. this sucks because this means I do not listen to my Vinyl as often as I would like and lots of Metal lends it self much better to being played loud over speakers. I do not get to do this often because someone else is almost always home and does not appreciate the Hell Metal blasting.

I don't listen to music constantly at the computer for some reason. Sometimes but not always. I love listening to music when I'm cooking, driving, working, eating, drinking, socialising, or doing nothing by myself. I've got a great stereo with speakers linked around the house for wherever I happen to be and whatever I happen to be doing at the time.

In the car - nice loud stereo
At work - headphones sometimes, out of crappy little speakers other times.
At home - we have a laptop for recording that's hooked to a PA, so I can listen very loud.
Clubs/Bars - I don't go out specifically to see other bands much, but my current rig is a Mesa Dual Rectifier head with a couple different cabs depending on how I'm feeling and how much help I have with load in.

1. iPod, usually while jogging or on public transportation.
2. Computer.
3. Car.
4. Good ol' boombox, from time to time.

I listen to metal all day at work, on my headphones. I fucking LOVE the fact that I don't have to talk to people on the phone for my job. I just sit in front of a computer and plug away. I also listen to metal in my car, and when I'm at the gym. I don't listen to metal in front of my computer that much, since I'm not at home that much, and now that it's baseball season, I usually watch the Red Sox game when I get home at night. But yeah, at work I listen to hours of metal every day. It helps keep me awake and sharp, and it makes being at work more fun, particularly when I am listening to a new album.

I listen to an album a night as I go to sleep. I also listen to my iPod as I work, because my job has pretty much the same parameters as Life Sucks'. When I was going to high school, I would listen to it as I walked to and from school as well.

I listen to it in the car when my parents are driving somewhere, on the computer, in the car when I drive.
Cookiecutter, what are you doing as work now?

I usually just pop in a CD when I'm in my room. That's basically the main area I listen to music. I also tend to listen to softer stuff when I'm sleeping.

Generally I prefer my headphones along with my Creative Zen media player thing because I can listen to it anywhere. However, the drawback is that my headphones don't go loud enough. Not that I have a need to blast my ears, but I almost have to have a "full" sound so it bothers me when I don't. Probably most of my time is spent with headphones in front of my computer. And occasionally I will just use my speakers. I basically have music everywhere I go.

mostly in the car. the only time I listen to music on the computer is when I'm home alone. the third choice is my stereo in my room. nice big speakers. luckily my neighbors are really cool (and equally loud but at more inconvenient times), so they don't care.

What do you do, anyway? I've always kinda wondered.

Anyway

1. Computer
2. Car
3. ipod

I have a pretty nice / loud stereo in my room, but there are almost always other people in the house, so I don't like to blast music for everyone else to hear, and I don't like to have it turned down too low since, really, where's the joy in that? So, the majority of the time, I listen on my headphones. It's important to note that my headphones (Bose Triports. Review: http://www.epinions.com/content_160260066948) are fucking awesome. I cannot stress this enough. I fucking love those headphones. Excellent sound quality, fit completley around my ears, very comfortable and have a nice long cord and extension cord, so I can have them plugged into the stero and I can still walk around the room with them on. Of course, on those rare occasions when I have the house to myself or when I'm listening with my brother, I go with the speakers.

The car, obvioulsy, is another place where much listening is done. There's no difference between what I listen to in the car and what I listen to in my room, though.

The good old iPod is also pretty great for a train ride. As much as I love the aformentioned headphones, I am far too self concious to wear those big goofy things in public, so I have a fairly nice pair of earbuds. Note sure of the model, but they're Philips and have rubber... things on them, so they are pretty comfortable (or as comfortable as ear buds can be, really) and actually have good sound quality.

I listen to metal mostly on the stereo or the the computer(if I don't own the copy of a particular album) Many metal albums are too abrasive to listen to via headphones at a desirable volume so I use those when listening to non-metal music, primarily. In general, I use headphones less and less for music nowadays, since I've begun to use them for work. Sitting there wired all day can be extremely exhausting and downright maddening.

I always take my mp3 player wherever I go, unless I go to some party to fuck myself up. I listen to my mp3 player 3 or 4 hours a day. On my computer I listen to metal all the time. I also play metal on comp while sleeping.
