he has become too good now, he sounds really professional.. i miss his voice on previous records such as still life and mayh =[

As a fan of this prog-metal band, dont you find it strange that you're resistant to progression?:erk:

i like how he's grown as a singer, his clean vocals have really progressed(they were always great) but he can really sing professionaly now, pitch changes are flawless, he can do high and low, i love it, i don't see why its a bad thing, but i can imagine you as a person who stops listening to a band because everyone else likes them(they get too popular)
sounds to me like a case of the little alternative band he carries around in his pocket has grown too big to fit in it anymore

I miss Mike's shitter clean too. But I think Watershed's clean vocals are really good, better than Damnation --> Ghost Reveries

I must say that I prefer the kind of clean, fragile, and ethereal vocals of Deliverance/Damnation than the ones on WS(even though they are amazing too)

Though I do really like Mike's clean vocals on Watershed, especially as Opeth is going into a softer direction overall. I would say that I prefer his clean vocals on MAYH and Still Life, I love the haunted quality of it.

exactly

edit: dont mind the first posts good people just say what you think. on this forum every thread i make takes about half a page of flaming before it turns into a discussion. i really think there is a place for discussion here im just taking lots of shit for the way i put my thoughts into words

yeah having a terrible cold while recording vocals on MAYH sound much better than now. WTF is wrong with u guys. the vocals are ok on MAYH, but Mikael has went from a "descent" vocalist, to what he is now, a master of his craft.

You could have explained it in a more comprehensive way, then? If you think former Opeth vocals were shitty, you wouldn't like them more than non-shitty vocals, would you? Unless you're some sort of pig or a fly.

You could have said "of lower production quality" or something. We all know that supremely produced albums with no mistakes whatsoever can be boring. So sometimes a worse production could mean less shittiness. So "shittier" means "worse OVERALL PERIOD" so it wasn't nice to use for something you like better :C

There, I've explained why you are wrong, and why everyone is right. Except you. Because you're wrong. :(

i agree, i just miss the, how the other guy said, "haunted quality" he used to have. technically he's much better now obviously. i didnt say it was better, i just said its something that i miss:rolleyes:
