If ANTHRAX do this Ozzfest reunion.....

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on Dutch teletext they confirmed Anthrax as the headliner for the Dynamo Open Air festival in may!!!! they are talkin about a 2 singer performance!!!!!!
Now it's time for Trax to step up and tell what is going on!!!!

i don't think joey would sing for an ozzfest gig. that would be huge mistake professionaly. Ozzfest is mostly people my age or younger because of the usual lineup of newer metal bands. and the point of being on ozzfest is to be heard by people coming for the other bands. and if thiese kids hear joey singing they're gonna get the wrong idea of what kind of band anthrax has evolved into. 80's metal is out. In some forms it's resurfaced but not as much as other genres of music have. that whole period of music is the butt of many jokes. and the kids aren't gonna like it. the only people who would are the already fans. ANthrax deffinately has a more modern sound now. They keep it real still but personally i think it's pretty accessible to the metalheads of today. they just need the right kind of publicity which would be an ozzfest tour with the current lineup.

Hey! Calm down, they haven't confirmed anything yet and if there's one thing we ought to know about the 'thrax, it's that they do take the credibility thing seriously*, they're not likely to try and cash in like this are they? Chill out guys.

* apart from the loud shorts thing back in '89

If it wasn't true, Scott or Charlie would have said it. Scott came on the bord and post sometime. And he said nothing about this reunion shit. I realy hope it's bullshit. John dont deaserve to be treated like that!!

think about it anthrax want to be on a better label and this could give themn the opportunity to ensure they can do what they love for many years to come.

That's what I'm thinking. As everyone here knows, they're getting fucked over but good on Sanctuary. And it's not like being a musician gives you unlimited access to the Federal Reserve. Would I HATE to see this happen? Yeah, whether I liked him or not in the past, I think he sucked then, and after hearing John do all the earlier stuff, it's obvious who should have been their singer from the beginning. The idea of hearing a 12-years-older Joey is the least appealing thing I can think of at the moment. But at the same time, if they need to do it, they need to do it right?

Anyone else notice how it would practically be suicide as far as an impression goes - most of the people who go to Ozzfest are teenage "rebels" who are interested in worshipping Satan. That's probably why Slayer has been there every year, along with Slipknot and Dimmu Borgir. Point being, the stuff will turn off everyone they play in front of - "Ok, thanks (whatever death metal band they bring in) for spewing your internal organs into the mic, now let's hear some pretty boy vocals from Anthrax!" That's not really what I have against his singing, but that's gonna be exactly the reason just about everyone there, who would have loved to hear a "manlier" singer like Bush, will leave saying "Anthrax is gay shit." Even "What Doesn't Die" would sound like Europe from him.

Agreed. Silence speaks louder than words.
Exactly.
I've been thinking about the rumours, and I told myself, "Has Anthrax ever let their fans down?"

NEVER. Not intentionally (we were all bummed when Frankie left, but that wasn't their fault).

going on a tour like ozzfest without the current lineup would be like false advertisment unless they were going to go back to Joey singing again. I wouldn't mind seeing a tour with both singers or just Joey once though since I missed seeing them back then. I'm just not sure doing it for ozzfest is a good idea. Then again, I'm not sure how Anthrax with either singer would do on something like ozzfest. I'm sure they would own, but would the crowd really apriciate them?

Taken from the official Dynamo Open Air website:
http://www.dynamo.nl/gb.html

First names confirmed!
The line-up for Dynamo Open Air 2005 is slowly coming together.
Six bands are now confirmed. With great pride we can announce that
ANTHRAX are celebrating their 25th anniversary at Dynamo with a very special performance.
For the occasion they will bring Joe Belladonna, Anthraxí frontman until 1993.
Under the monicker "The Greater Of Two Evils" Anthrax will perform at Dynamo with two singers!

You'd think by now this band would have run out of feet to shoot themselves in.

We'll see. I can't make myself believe anyone involved thinks this is a good idea.

Perhaps the rumor was "leaked" to get everyone's opinion before making a decision?
I have been an Anthrax fan since the day I bought Fistful of Metal on Vinyl back in 1984. I have been an Armored Saint fan since I bought and heard Lesson Well Learned on Metal Massacre 2 in 1984 before their E.P. came out. When John Bush joined Anthrax I firmly believed the best metal band in the world had finally come together.

They pull this stupid fucking stunt and I am gone. A twenty year fan will simply relish in the glory of GOTE and how it represents all that could have been and I will consider Anthrax's career over. I have two kids to raise and and have a succesful career that is kickin my ass at the moment. I will give up this silly game I play of hanging on to my metalhead past, which basically only includes my love for Anthrax, I really could give a flip about the rest of metal today because its so fuckin tired and un-inspiring. I will finally grow up and move on.

This is my absolute nightmare when it comes to this band. MISTAKE MISTAKE MISTAKE.

I'm not gonna tell them what to do, and I won't burn my Thrax' merchandise, that would be stupid, I like Anthrax for the music, not their personal lives.

I wouldn't even want to imagine the reception that the Ozzfest crowd would give Anthrax once they got a load of Joey's cheese-tastic style. There are just too many kids there that would think that it was some sort of joke.

Joey's style and sound is too dated to bring in anything postive in the long run for this band. If they're going to do a tour like they planned in 98 as a headliner, then fine. 45 minutes of Joey, and then 45 minutes of John... it would make some sense as a nod to the 25 years of the band. But this band can not and would not be able to go any further with Joey as the lead singer in this day and age. Although maybe they could open for Armored Saint...... I keed.......

I'm through with them.
Sell out your integrity for a "spot" on Ozzfest????
Leave your current lead singer and guitarist home all summer and let them miss this big pay day????
What could a spot on Ozzfest with Joey possibly do for the band at this point?
FUCK THAT
DON'T DO IT SCOTT AND CHARLIE!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with what everyones saying here

Oh yeah did I forget to mention how much I dislike Sharon Osbourne.

I didnt like Sharon Osbourne very much to begin with and if she really did make a so called "demand" that Anthrax can only play Ozzfest if its with the original lineup then i have totally lost all respect for her and I hope Scott and Charlie and the rest of the band tell her where she can stick her fucking Ozzfest if its not just John Bush and John Bush alone singing the entire setlist.

Isnt this kind of dumb though?..just releasing an album of your older songs redone and then bring Belladonna back for a tour to sing those songs.

In defense of Sharon, she can do what she wants with the festival she runs. If Charlie and Scott decide to tour with Joey because of it, then it was Charlie and Scott are responsible for it.

You know, aside from the obvious, I'd REALLY hate for Anthrax to do it for a simpler reason: all the bands at Ozzfest suck! Festivals are fun, but I prefer the indoors to outdoors, and I prefer a small club to an open field, and I MUCH prefer paying $30 for a full 2-hour set of a band that I love rather than paying $50 (I think that's how much Ozzfest costs right?) for 45 minutes of a band I love then an hour and a half driving home because there's no reason to stay.
