They need the security when they go back to civilian life? I will concede those in the Executive branch might and do, but not the legislative (once they are out of office...while in office I can understand the security). I don't know if Boehner has armed security guards or not but he shouldn't.

I may not need an armed security guard, but I need to ensure my own security and I should be able to use the means that elected representatives use for protection. After all, we the people elected them.

Boehner had security detail when he was Speaker, and for good reason. I would be pretty surprised if he still had it. No way the nobodies in congress get detail for the rest of their lives. Like most gun-nut propaganda, the foundation of the argument isn't true.

Pretty funny/strange that in the aftermath of something like this, people are arguing about whether the shooter preferred to be addressed by masculine or feminine pronouns.
