It's 2008. Post your top 10 2007 lists here.

1) Mammatus - The Coast Explodes

It is not an original album at all, so at first it was hard to give it my OMGWTFLOL award for 2007, but after listening to it many, many times, and REALLY loud, I realized just how magical it is. Because it be.

Others in no order:

Deathspell Omega - Fas
OM - Pilgrimage
Darkestrah - Epos
Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters
Reverend Bizarre - III
Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today
Neurosis - Given to the Rising
Slough Feg - Hardworlder
Down - Over the Under

Lots of other really good albums this year as well, I could probably replace half that list with another 5 albums in X days from now. All except that new Queens of the Stone Age. That album sucked balls.

Okay now that I've read everyone else's lists:

I forgot Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. That album is incredible, and is one of those Top 12 to 15 range or #1 In History, Man. I'm not entirely sure which yet, should spend more time with it, even though I already have. I have just gotten into those dudes/chick starting about 6 months ago, so I still have a bit of catching up to do.

I want to check out the new Primordial. I'm not really a big fan of them, having heard The Gathering Wilderness (which I own and enjoy once a year) and Spirit the Earth Aflame (which I listened to twice and is better). I'm still waiting for these dudes to grab me, and the one song I heard from the new one nearly did. Nearly.

HOLY PISS I forgot about the Danzig double-disc rarity collection, it seems like it has already been years since that one was out. That is the definite highlight, even if only half the songs are incredible. I put Warlok on repeat like 40 times once, and it was a good day.

gOD DAMMIT I forgot the new Scald. Probably their best. Mindfuck of an album. The most and least accessible at the same time. Wondrous stuff.

apparently I only purchased 8 2007 releases that I like... and about half of these are just "barely rankable"... with the Porcupine Tree being a particularly underwhelming affair... how times have changed from 5 years ago when I'd have dozens of new releases...

1. Riverside - "Rapid Eye Movement"
2. Symphony X - "Paradise Lost"
3. Marillion - "Somewhere Else"
4. New Invisible Joy - "Kontakt"
5. Sieges Even - "Paramount"
6. VNV Nation - "Judgement"
7. Porcupine Tree - "Fear of a Blank Planet"
8. Nine Inch Nails - "Year Zero"

VNV Nation - "Judgement"
Yeah, this one is like in the Top 25. I saw them on that album's tour, it was one of the most positive, uplifting concerts I've ever been to. The crowd was incredibly responsive and Ronan thanked everyone like 50 times. It was rad.

Dax Riggs - We Sing of Only Blood or Love is another good one I didn't mention. This album is going to rule face this summer, I can already tell.
