ok, so the discussion came up on another thread and i though that it might provide some INTELLIGENT conversation. i doubt we can avoid retarded posts, but atleast some of us can discuss it maturely.

do you think its ok to abort a kid destined to suffer a life of disability, whether its mental or physical. would this differ from your stance on the abortion of normal and healthy fetuses?

personally, i think it really lays with the parents and if they really want to raise a child like that. its certainly a burden on the family, even when they kid grows up. they will always need care. and if the family cant provide that care, then its certainly not a good situation for the kid. this almost mirrors my views on normal abortion. if a family cant provide for the kid, and they want to, i wouldnt stop them.

would i do it? thats a really hard question for me to answer. i would not abort a normal child, even if the mother wants to. she could have the kid and give me custody. but with a special needs kid, i would have a hard time with that. i think if the kid was severely damaged i would.

I think it is ok for people to abort ANY fetus and I think it would probably be easier and better for everyone to abort fetuses that are deformed before they are born. If they do end up being born, one could argue that just euthanizing severely deformed people would be ok, but that brings up the slippery slope as well as the fact that that baby, although deformed, has now become a human and cannot yet give consent to the euthanasia. All in all a hairy moral situation.

I would not abort any child. I don't pretend to be able to imagine how hard it would make my life. This is just based on my own view of life having intrinsic value, and of babys being alive and fully human at conception.

Does humanity ACTUALLY value the human life?

Your all so hell bent on letting them get born, but as soon as they pop out of somne bitches vagina, no one gives a rats ass anymore.

does natural selection really work in this case? there certainly isnt a lack of disabled people.

how many of said special people actually procreate?

didn't churchill do or want to do something similar to this? I know he favored eugenics
