Last movie you've watched

Cloverfield - Liked it much more than I thought I would. It had an aire of believability to it and let you make your own conclusions. Ultra shakey cam was difficult at times but you get used to it pretty quick. All I say say sans spoilers...

Innocent Voices - movie about a child recruitment in civil war in El Salvador. Good movie.

God's Sandbox - not very well done movie starring Meital Dohan who is a very good actress.

Halloween (2007). I thought it sucked. The characters were horrible, one-dimensional, and so annoying that Michael Meyers couldn't possibly give them the death I wished upon them. All of the horror and suspense was sucked out of it in favor of cheap scares, shitty dialogue, and laughable events. I thought Rob would have a little more attention to detail, but this seems an outlet for his hillbilly psychoporn fantasies.

I could not agree more! I was so disappointed. I expected much better from Rob.

I couldn't see the appeal in his other stuff. I could appreciate what he was trying to do, to an extent, but it was pretty flat.

It's been terribly cold as you can imagine! I've spent alot of time elsewhere but keep on coming back. Something about Scotland just keeps me here.

Still, though, Perth has gotta be much better!?

Dragon Wars (D-War) - Good special effects and okay story but it felt all disjointed and rushed. It seemed like entire scenes were edited out that would have completed sudden baffling jumps. Bad dialogue. It's okay as long as you don't look into it too much.

Shinobi - Romeo and Juliet meets... ninja packed anime-esque action? Pretty cool movie with some great special effect. I would have loved to see more development on some of the Shinobi's before they met their demise but all in all, a fun flick.

No Country is good, but it loses something in the second half.
i kinda think that was the point.

from what i hear, it follows cormac mccarty's book really closely, but beyond that, i guess it was just trying to be more of a realistic crime drama instead of a pulse-pounding action movie.

hell, anton cigur is enough cause to see the movie regardless of anything else. such an amazing character

Well, It's not that I was bored in the second half, rather that the last little bit doesn't really sit too nicely. I think the moral compass changes it's pitch and the moral centre of the picture is slightly lost rather than affirmed. It was a wonderful movie though, and you're right - it's worth seeing just for Bardem, he's an absolutely whirlwind of an actor. Daniel Day Lewis aside, I'd never seen anything remotely as interesting as him on screen EVER. As a piece of cinema it's as close to perfect as I think I'll ever see.

It's quite close to the book. It's superior in that the Coens have a knack for characterisation like any novelist I've ever read AND they, of course!, have Bardem.
