Mikael quits Bloodbath and I quit Mikael!

No I didn't I used this scenario as to what happen to me, if you don't like the route the band has took then don't make a neurotic rant about quitting them. Come to think of it I have never really been pissed off with any band. I wasn't even pissed off with Morbid Angel with there last album. It was more funny than rage inducing to be honest.

Heritage took me four or five listens to appreciate fully, but it's a solid album. There are a few tracks I won't go near, (Slither is one of the few Opeth songs I'll skip outright) but Folklore, Famine, I Feel The Dark and The Lines In My Hand are deeply felt and worthy of praise. I don't mind the fact he's moving the band in a different direction, and if this is to be the new Opeth...fine. He gave me nine prog-death albums to fawn over.

eight :)

 this has been my favorite thread in a while. been listening to still life for the first time in years. good to be in an opeth mood, i burnt myself out of them after watershed. also saw them like 2 weeks before watershed

He recently stated that he hasn't been into Metal since the 1st Opeth record. So glad the Metal community has made him such a statesman. Metal is in a sad place with MIkael and Eddie Trunk at the helm.'

That's why I don't understand this band. It's like making a country album when your a Jazz musician. Why would you make that record if you're not even into that style of music anymore? It's just seems soulless, and strange to try and cater to an audience you don't even like. I think MAYH is their best album, and nothing has topped that one yet. So if Opeth went back to that would be great. Who knows tho, Mikael is like a music schizo. One day he likes this and that, and another day he likes something else.

The only sad thing about the state of metal is the state of it's fanbase. I can't go ten minutes without hearing some close-minded drivel from some oldfag who can't reconcile how things aren't they way they were in the 90's.

Fact of the matter is, most metal acts, especially those that break through listen mostly or at least equally to other forms of music, and guess what? It doesn't matter. It doesn't mean they dislike their fans or don't like what they're doing.

He hurt a lot of his fans. That's the only thing that really happened. No one really cares why he did it, they just feel a bit betrayed and everything gets over exaggerated on the internet. The guy that turned himself into a metal icon is making soft prog rock. It's like Stephen King writing children's books or vampire novels. Most of his fans arent going to care about the quality or what his "vision" is, they're just going to be upset he isnt doing what they love any more.

that's borderline homosexual attraction to Mike. This attitude is the same of the girls who like that gaylord sparkling vampire from the movie. He owes you nothing.

Enjoy the albums you think are good. Period.
