Mikael the comedian

In Berlin, Germany (September 19th),

Mike introduced ´In my time of need´ :

"I want everybody sing along with the next song!
And for those who don´t, we put snyper guns on the ceiling, watching over all of you!"

2 songs later somebody screamed: "The Night an the silent water!!!"

and mike just looked to the ceiling and said "SNYPER!!!"

Everybody laughed...

And when he introduced Demon of the Fall, he said:

"It´s our Seek and Destroy, our Paranoid.......our Like a virgin!"

Mikael is THE SMOOTHEST FRONTMAN in metal scene!

There was a part on the Lamentations DVD where Mike introduced "the drapery falls" and said "This song is a poof song...but only in the beginning"

What I wonder is, when Mikael makes a joke while introducing Martin Mendez, does he laugh? Because I've never seen him laugh ever I think. He always seems kind of shy and angry at the same time.

in one show Mikael introduces the members the following way:

Per- Steven Wilson
Mandez- steve harris
Lopez- "Another Martin"
Peter- Mikael
and himself as Peter

i also remeber a bootleg where he goes: "the next song is..."
(someone from the crowd) "Bleak"
(mikael) "nah.. i'm tired of it, we palyed it like 80 times on this tour"
(crowd) "Face of malinda"
(mikael) "91 times"
and so on... (i don't remeber the exact numbers, but you get the message)

At the Oxford show last week, there was someone constantly letting out a black metal shriek. Apparently, Mikael liked this, and got them to repeat it four or fives times, until their voice went.

Person: arrrgghhhh
Mikael: Again!
Person: arrrgghhhh
Mikael: Again!
Person: arrrgghhhh
Mikael: Again!

Mikael: Again!
Person: argheeehhh --

I've seen him laugh, let me tell you!

It was at the Swedish Concert now recently. Mike was chatting constantly
about this swedish movie. When he stopped talking to tune his guitar one
fella suddently shouted:

"Blire' nån andre vers, eller?"
That's a line from that famous movie and it was delivered with perfect timing,
with the correct swedish accent; in the silence. I will never be able
to fully translate the fun but it goes a little something like this in english:

"Will there be a second verse, or?"

And the audience bursted into laughter and so did Mike. Never seen them
laugh so much. Mike was looking at Peter who also started laughing.
Think the whole band was laughing with the crowd!

EDIT: Ups! I thought that Cairath ment Mike!

Conclusion: Mike laughs! He's human after all! :)

Haha...tror dock inte så många fattar grejen här ändå.

:p

When I went to see Opeth at The Forum, Mikael introduced the band,
"We are Opeth. Not Otep!"
Is Martin Mendez's headbanging stupid? I love it. It's the only way i headbang

At their show in Montreal, Mikael kept calling Martin M. a fag and a cunt and whatnot for not headbanging right. And he got the audience to show how to headbang properly. I think Mendez's headbanging is awesome though.:headbang:

Yeah. To understand the humor in that comment, you'll have to watch the swedish movie "Strul". You probably won't fully appreciate the movie unless you're a swede or have lived in Sweden for a while. However, I do believe that it's still a funny movie even if you're not a swede (if it's translated correctly). You might not understand all the small details though (dialects, typical swedish things, etc). So if you find it, go ahead and watch it.

EDIT: Oh, here's a link to some info about the movie: http://imdb.com/title/tt0096184/
It seems that the international title of the movie is "Framed".

at the Florence gig:

we are opeth from Stockholm,Sweden.this is gonna be a heavy metal show.maybe a hard rock gig.maybe a cock rock gig.

a guy shouted something like "what about nocturno culto"

mike:unfortunately there will not be a dark throne cover

someone was constantly letting out a black metal shriek.after one of these shrieks,Mike said this one goes to you

before the encore(deliverance)Mike submited a 3-question quiz to the crowd.

if you'll give me the correct answer,we'll play a song.the topic is ozzy osbourne.

the first question is:what's the name of the first ozzy's guitarrist?

audience:randy rhoads!

the answer is correct.the second question is about the videoclip for "shoot in the dark".ozzy was dressed like a witch
(he said something like that).the question is:eek:zzy looked good or ugly?

audience:ugly!

the answer is correct.he was ugly.the last question is the easier one.is ozzy God?

audience:yes!

Mike:the answer is not correct.Dio is God!

note:the italian word for God is Dio

In Montreal, amongst various Burt Reynolds/Gay Sex comments, there was a moment when someone in the crowd yelled "Take your shirt off". Mikael's response was : "Take my shirt off? I wouldn't want to reveal my... pink bra"
