Most universally hated genre of music?

outside of the actual indie rock community there seems to be a general loathing for indie rock, and I know it isn't so much as genre as a music movement of sorts but eh

i'll defend goregrind as a contender. it has absolutely no value to 99% of humans. it is less than 30 years old, is vulgar, is not melodic, is not virtuostic instrumentally, and is generally unpleasant to listen to.

also TB WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU START A GOTH ROCK THREAD ON A BASKETBALL FORUM

I don't think most people know what goregrind is, so I wouldn't put it as the most hated genre. I would think most would hate it if they heard the music.

Hated is to strong of a word but I sicnerely belive extreme death metal and the like are some of the most disliked music. It has a loyal fanbase but if youre not a fan of the genre and hasnt listened alot to it you dont get it.

If youre at a party and play a death meal tune be sure someone changes it within seconds or people just leave the room.

Most everything else seems tollerable to most even if they dont like it but alot of people just have a ahrd time listening to extreme metal.

Im xcluding small genres such as Noise or these super crazy Jazz things that sounds like noise to most people.

You could put some Iron Maiden or Running Wild on and usually get a negative reaction.

It doesn't even have to be death metal. You could put some Iron Maiden or Running Wild on and usually get a negative reaction.

Its true to some extent but people can seem to take more melodic or well known stuff. Metallica, Iron Maiden and even stuff like System of a Down seems to be ok with people sometimes - probably because they recognize it.

Anything more extreme tends to get a very negative reaction while every other kind of music seems to be tollerated more.

I find it facepalm worthy that people enjoy shit like SOAD but can't appreciate actual good metal.

I find it unsurprising and predictable, but there is a slight possibility I might be a hugely misanthropic snob when it comes to interpersonal relations.

Its not strange:

* Its repeatd on the radio
* It has hooks

Whatever you or I think of them thats the main thing. People accept stuff that is constantly heard and that they can sing along to in one way or another (or dance to). Im quite surprised SAOD made it into the relative mainstream since the music is very jumpy, disjointed or spasmodic even though it has its hooks as well.
