Music video

Right when I heard the song "Mirror of souls" I wanted someone to make a mini movie of it, with just the song playing and the actions of the people following the lyrics. Thats my dream for a music vid. Theoretically (pun intended) i think "Nailed" would be amazing, with it going back and forth from the story to the band headbanging!!!
 
Of course, I was kidding about the hair thing. In all seriousness, though, "demon" could make an awesome video... I would show someone attempting to battle multiple demons and failing until he turned his gaze and lifted his arm upwards (broken sword in hand), when a surge of light energy comes down and "shockwaves" out, laying the demons out cold, at which point the warrior would stand triumphant over his enemies.

Perhaps some excerpts from the song could be added here and there, and Matt could compose some instrumental pieces along the same lines for specific scenes.

Interesting thought. I always visualize that song in my head, and I, too, have wondered about this possibility. I think that would be ridiculously awesome.

Also, considering what Nightwish is planning to do...well, I can see parallels in the thinking here.

I've always imagined a music video of MoS-- it'd probably be the longest music video ever made (though I could be wrong). It'd be impossible to get such a budget, but the idea is simply amazing.

On that note, what is Nightwish planning on doing? I heard they're coming out with a new album this week or sometime, but that's about it.
 
Another Brick in the Wall. Imaginaerum. Those are both full albums that were made into movies. I think they're both a little longer than Mirror of Souls :p

NW is making a movie based on their new album Imaginaerum.

The more I think about it, the more I believe you're right. Altar To The Unknown God probably has the broadest appeal. It's hard for me to imagine anyone with even a casual interest in the genre not liking that song.
 
I honestly don't think that MoS would translate well into a video, the lyrics in the song already paint a pretty vivid picture of the story, so a movie/video would just have matt's singing directly narrating the pictured events, without really adding anything.

I think that martyr would make a pretty epic video(I've even had a few ideas as to how one would be able to pull it off) but if I had to choose something from ATWB, I'd say Nailed might work the best.
 
MoS wouldn't be like a music video. It would be more like a short film (not even quite short enough... Hahahaha!!) It would be cool to have something like that. But understand that this is not cheap.

Hmmm, I love I AM, but it benefits so much from being a richly drawn word-picture/revelation that I'm not sure that actual pictures wouldn't be redundant, like Arnock is saying about MoS.

Over the past few days I've really been thinking about Altar, though. The more I listen to it, the more I see it.

Now I'm impatient to actually see what the band and studio pick! :p
 
I'm curious to see what they pick too. I say 30 Pieces of Silver. Lots of beat changes, awesome drum fills and drumming through out the whole song, good show of vocals, awesome solo with fingers of fury (lol, plus making the guitar sing after the crazy fast part of the solo with the slower tempo) and pre solo instrumental part, and the pre-chorus is awesome on both verses lol (For if the key to life is right here in my hand..). It just seems to have about everything in that one song. Incredible instrumental that has the fast, mid and slow tempo seamlessly changing all the way through, and good range of vocals.

Either way, should be cool if they decide to do one.

I hate screamo and growls and all that, but that was pretty funny nonetheless. :)
I don't know how anyone can take it seriously, though.

I think something along the lines of the Sonata Arctica - Flag in the Ground video (love that song), showing lots of the band but interlaced with cinematic clips telling the story of the song would be great. Keep it simple but do it well and you can't really go wrong.

If Theocracy did Altar to the Unknown God, should we have flames shooting up around the band? :D

Some of Theocracy's songs couldn't really justify a video for reasons already stated, i.e. enough imagery in the song that a video couldn't add to. There are many that could be amazing with a video though. I agree that Altar to an Unknown God would work well. I also think Absolution Day could be pretty cool - there's lots you could do with a courthouse scene.
