thanx, i firgured Haven would bridge a gap in the collection and its easier to find. I'll buy it very soon,The only albums i'm gonna buy for a while will be the remaining dt albums(Skydancer,The minds I,Haven),i need em all,then I'll work on getting lunar strain and the jester race. By the way does anyone agree that the jester race MAY be the 2nd best melodeath album ever? 2nd to the Gallery of course

hey guys whats up? i listen to stuff like nevermore, cob, in flames, evergrey, opeth, wintersun, what do you think is a good DT cd to get first? i went to best buy and they only had like 1 or 2 CDs of them too 
i watched some videos on youtube and they were pretty cool 
i heard one cd that my brother gave me called projector i think and theres a lot of weird singing but then the youtube video i watched for lost to apathy theres no singing. is it the same guy who sings and growls or is it somoene else? this is confusing to me, but ya if you could recommend a good CD to get first that would be cool, thanks!

i recommend all the ones kitkat said those where my first albums of dt and also projector!
but try buying the exposures...it has lots of tracks from the albums, its a good way to start knowing a band.

Funny that you didn't hear any singing on the "Lost to Apthy" video, there is singing on that video, so check for it again, the other one is bad hehe.
Ahhhh 'tis the endless questions that will never havee a direct answer. I came up with the following strategy in order to buy your 1st DT cd.
1) Buy "Exposures in Restrospect and Denial," since 'tis a live album and it has a wide variety of DT songs.
2) If you like OLD DT, I recommend "The Gallery," since 'tis the best.
3) If you like new DT, buy Damage Done and Character.
4) Listen to the cds in order.
5) Listen to Haven before Projector.
6) If you don't listen to the cds in order, listen to Projector after you've listened to all the other cds.

I wouldn't suggest getting "Exposures" first, since it's more like a bunch of (great) songs that didn't make it to the albums than an album in itself. And studio imo are always better than live albums.

Alright guys, I don't own any dt yet. I do enjoy old school swedish death metal and a few melodic acts of today as well (Hypocrisy, Swallow the Sun, etc).

although I doubt anyone mentioned much about fiction in there. Probably not best to start with fiction though. I never really considered it properly. I still think one should start With Damage Done then move forwards if they like the agression, backwards if they like the melody, or skip right to the beginning if they like the whole thing and want to know about DT's amazing progression through music and time!

Damage Done should be the one to listen to first cause it's straight-forward, he'll have no problem getting into it. Then if he likes what he's listening to, he can continue to listen to all the other albums.
