next katatonia album

So, you have A world In Their Screams? That's their last one.

Their best albums for my part is: Les Ténèbres du Dehors and
Leçons de Ténèbres. Les Tenebres du Dehors really blows me away.. Lecons de tenebres is actually a bit too sad. I find it amazing that anyone have been able to make music THAT sad..so got to appreciate that. Anyhoo...I won't be talking about Elend anymore now..

yes i have the world in their scream for a long time.Is mostly in french and is VERY agressive.I loved the english/latin combination on the past ones more. The Umbersun is awesome too..Maybe i will buy it sometime..Awesome music.
Aabout the how this sad music end up in society imo some of us just don't like the society and they also try to not suicide also or say "i am done"..You end up with things like this ...It's a combination of survival and hatrared. This kind of people will not have peace until they die. They will always struggle and can't find their place.I always have a word and as days passing away from my life it confirms more and more.Normal people don't make revolution. The phsychos, the peoples with problems or disorders push the stuff 1 notch up.There was a song in katatonia - Passing bird that have some lines like this:
"I cannot rest
with so many worries
I can't lie down
and say I am done
"

They are perfect..

I wouldnt want Steven as the producer, I like his stuff but I dont like his effort as metal music producer. For example I think that he more or less ruined opeths BWP and the double d's. I like his deliveration and damnation album really much but I dont think the production is anything special same with BWP except I dont like that album so much.

Ruined BWP? He helped give Opeth true focus as BWP is where they defined their sound imo.

Okay, maybe I was a bit harsh when I say ruined because I think that BWP is a excellent album too, but I dont like its production Its... i dont know... too unmetal I guess and too clear and "perfect", Liked a bit more Still life and MAYH production.

Oh yeah, it's just a matter of taste.
I have a fetish for clear production, so I pretty much like it :p

When you say "production" you mean the sound?

As far as I can remember BWP was recorded/mixed by Fredrik Nordström, right?

A producer is someone who is working within the band, helping out with ideas for arrangements, thinking outside the box, making sure everyone is performing at their full capacity etc. He/she doesn't always have anything to do with the actual sound of the album. That's usually up to the recording and mixer dudes.

I think Steven produced and mixed 'Damnation', so that's his sound.

i was under the impression that Steven did BWP, Deliverance and Damnation.

Well, he did produce all three, but he only mixed 'Damnation'.

I just wanted to illuminate the difference between producing and mixing duties.

I looked it up in the booklet, and here it says: "Produced by Opeth and Steven Wilson. Engineered by Opeth, Steven Wilson and Fredrik Nordström. Mixed by Steven Wilson and Fredrik Nordström with the presence of Opeth"
But maybe you're right and Wilson only did some additional mixing or something.

I know the difference between mixing and producing, but I always use production as term to describe the mix yeah... Probably wrong now I think of it

Well, Im kinda bad at telling reasons how I feel how I feel and I dont know any more than my grandmother about mixing and producing so maybe i'll just try to quiet.

ps. listened BWP today and have to admit, it's a freaking great album but theres just something that doesnt get into me as much as other opeth records, caused by Steven Wilson or not, doesnt matter.

Absolutely. I like a lot of albums with weird production that really suits the music. Suffocation's "Pierced From Within" with the really high bass is a great example. "Brave Murder Day" is also a good one I think. It wouldn't have sounded nearly as eerie with a clean production.

I do agree with MadTinus on "Deliverance" for sure. In terms of sheer quality it's just about the same but somehow "Blackwater Park" has a much more natural and dynamic sound.

Sorry for my noob question but what means BWP?
I can't find any album with this iniatials..
Is refering to the Brave yester days albums. The ones with black metal style?
