Next Testament CD

How is "thrash" and "melodic" in opposition anyway? I understand "thrash" means brutal to you, but "True American Hate" is both in my ears. Anyway, Testament's great at all kinds of songs and let's hope for some variety on DROE

100% agreed! "True American Hate" contains quite a bit of melody. In fact, the only two sections of the song which aren't melodic, is the 2nd part of the choruses, and the verses. All the other parts of the song are melodic. Both Alex and Chuck have stated that the album is diverse, which music to my ears!

And that is meant to be proof of what exactly? Someone on here recently claimed that there are no slower songs on the album at all, the ballad aside, which would mean that the rest of the album is fast, and totally contradicting what the guy in that thread you posted is trying to claim. When I hear claims like that from an official source, then I'll accept it as proof. :p

1. He never said there were slow songs, so I fail to see how that's contradicting what somebody here says.

2. If he's heard the album (and a lot of people on that forum seem to have connections), then he's a more credible source than any of us, who have just heard a low quality leak, if that.

In short, give me the album now.

Saying that only 3 songs "are thrash" is contradicting the assertion that all of the songs are fast. When most people say a song "isn't thrash", what they're really saying is it's not fast, or that it's overtly melodic. I don't think that, but most people, at least in my experience, do think that.

As far as I can recall, the guy here who said that none of the songs on the album are slow (aside from the ballad) got that information from a band interview. I could be wrong about that though. But still, what band members themselves have to say about an album pre-release, is what should really be taken notice of.

In short, give me the album now.

Agreed!

For real, it's not like the album will be bad, so it doesn't matter what speed the material is.

Alex and Eric are in the new Guitar World (EVH on the cover). It certainly sounds like there's a mix of slow songs with fast.

Hey all! I nomally wouldn't do this but I'm stuck.Flotsam And Jetsam is working on a new album called (ugly noise) through Pledge records.I had never heard of it,but it's like this. It's basically pre ordering.
They have set amounts for things, you can pre order a signed copy of the new album for $20,they also have skype with the band, guitar lesson your name in the credits plus they have video and audio updates and many other things.Right now they appear to be stuck at 68 percent. If they do not get up to %100 in like 45 days, there will be no album. If you do pledge or use paypal and just pay for it as I did and the album doesn't happen then you are refunded all your money. To me this is a worthy cause ,there are a lot of bands worse than Flotsam (quatro line up) that still make albums. And I for one don't want to see them go away.
I don't really know how it came to this but if you like Flotsam and would like to pledge the link is..

@Redfly: Thanx so much for the info! I am a Flotz fan, and couldn't wait to help and get involved when I read your post! I had no idea about this, so thank for alerting me to this. :) It's kinda a shame it's come to this in the music industry, but at least this way most of our cash goes straight into the pockets of the band, with a portion donated to charity too, and we get loads of kewl exclusive offers too, so it's a win-win situation all round. Hope they get the 100% they need in the next month and a half or so!

I made my pledge, ordered an exclusive shirt, a signed CD, and most awesome of all, I got my name added to the thanks list of the album! xD

Hey that is really awesome! I know the band thanks you so much.I did see that the % went to 69!
I was a little nervous posting about another band on here. But Flotsam is one of the original thrash bands and deserve to make music!
Thanks again!

I ordered the Flotz package and a name in the credits and a signed double vinyl of Doomsday.I wish they more of those.I wish I could have gotten the signed guitar!
I hope to pledge again

Hehe, that extra 1% was me! :)

I think posting about it here, was a great idea! Posting the info on other thrash bands' sites is a great way to get the word out there, and spread the message. If it weren't for you posting here, I might have never heard about this (or got my name in the credits as there's only 3 available spaces left in the credits! lol), so you definitely did the right thing! :worship:

I think this type of thing is going to be more popular in the future for smaller bands to keep afloat, and to keep being able to make new music. Illegal downloading is killing the music industry, particularly smaller bands like the Flotz, so this is a great new avenue for them to get their music out there, whilst bypassing record labels, thereby rightfully pocketing most of the cash themselves. I hope it succeeds as it's a really great project, and I really hope the Flotz get the extra 31% that they need in time. It would be such a shame if they couldn't get their new album out. :(

The signed guitar would have been badass, but it had already been bought, and I dont think I could have afforded it anyway! hehe :P

Yeah that 1% was totally you!Just letting one person know about that is a Flotz fan made it totally worth it.I should have done it sooner.I figured testament has awesome fans sooo.
I think the pledge will get more popular also, they got really screwed by the last two labels.Plus they will own their music!
C'mon metal family! kick in and lets get an awesome album!

The guitar would have been a stretch for me too.But i'm glad someone bought it!
