Next Testament CD

To anyone here who actually owns the album.... are there lead credits in the booklet with the lyrics? Does it say which solos are played by Eric, and which ones are played by Alex?

Yes, they do say who plays what solo where. All the lyrics are printed and it's a pretty nice booklet.

I'm glad about that... it's a pet hate of mine when lead credits are not printed in album booklets where there are two lead guitarists. lol

Eric said in interviews that he plays around 50% of the leads on the new album, is that true?

First off, I bought the vinyl + shirt combo, so let's establish that.

After listening, I'm not quite sure what to think. Formation + Ritual is definitely a fitting description. It's definitely not a bad album by any means on first impression, but I'm not in love with it (yet). Definitely going to have to listen again, obviously. Off first impression, Day in the Death, Last Stand, and Throne of Thorns are my favorites.

Also all 3 covers are killer.

Ah well, it seems that for some reason, the UK release date is the 30th... why isn't it the 27th like the rest of Europe?

It figures, the one time I don't! lol I can't believe people in the US have gotten it already. Now I'm behind! I am going to the store as soon as it comes out here...they better have it!
The cdjapan site blows. They still don't even have a picture of the album. No info on bonus material. No info at all, except to say that it's only one disc.

There isn't any information anywhere for the Japanese release, not even on the King Records own website, which is Testament's Japanese label (although they do have the album artwork). The new Steve Vai CD, which comes out a week later, has had the track listing for weeks PLUS the album artwork with exclusive info. But if the record label isn't even posting up current information on it then I'm at a complete loss. It's 11 days before it is officially released over there and they usually have this info by now.

I feel bad because I gave a recommendation for you to get it from there and it's taking forever for information to come out and now NB USA shipped out all preorders early, so I feel worse. Sorry bout that. :(

Just about yeah. Alex does the majority as usual, but Eric does quite a bit.

I had a different reaction. I loved it right off the bat and it's only getting better for me. I don't get the Ritual comparison either. I know Chuck had mentioned it, but I don't really hear it. Initally I was worried the record was going to be slow and more commercial sounding. One of the problems I have with Formation is it starts to drag at times, too many mid-tempo songs and the flow of DROE doesn't have that problem to me.

Just by listening, I can tell that most of the solos are done by Alex, the main ones at least...

I was really looking forward to getting the album today, now I'll need to wait till Monday, which seems like ages away, especially as other people are now talking about the album as they have heard it. :(

 even though the official release date in Europe is today, the 3 stores I checked are expecting the album on ... Augusth 6th. What is this shit? I've yet to check 2 more, but it seems that this may be the release date for Poland, only NB forgot to inform us about it. Seriously, someone is messing with the fans. It appears I'll be waiting 10 more days to hear DROE. And I already know how the album will chart in Poland - it won't, 'cause that's the worst thing you can do to the sales, isn't it?

Tracklisting is up. No cover tracks as bonus tracks, only bonus track is listed as "Practice What You Preach" which I'm guessing is a live track. If that's the case I might just cancel mine and buy the deluxe in the store.

It's 20 freakin 12! why isn't the release date the same for everyone! I can't believe it's different all over Europe.

Yep, I was shocked when I discovered earlier that the UK release date was the 30th. :( Why say the 27th was the European release date when that date didn't apply to all European countries? It's misleading the fans.

Hmm... could that be the re-recording of a "classic title track" that a few months ago someone said Alex mentioned?

That might be it. Only thing that sucks is I still want the cover songs in lossless. I'll have to see if one of my friends gets it and then I can rip those 4 tracks to lossless and just have a separate disc with them on it.

Oh! we can still cancel? for some reason I didn't think I could.I would love to hear the new Practice,if that's what it is.But not at the cost of the disc.I could get the damn belt buckle lol
