not fitting into concerts

Gwar is the single best live band ever. If you have never experianced gwar live, then you should rethink your life. The music is a matter of taste, but the show is unreal.

By the way, GWAR sounds way better and more pleasing than GWAT... so you are wrong sir Ptah :D

I have been to two metal concerts and both of them I have felt that I just did not fit in. I see people wearing their metal shirts and black outfits , some trash talking about certain bands, some people doing drugs, others just having fun and moshing, others headbanging, and most hanging out with other metalheads. I know these are just small generalization and I'm sure some of you do not fit into any concert stereotype, but I feel differently.

For me I went to both concerts by myself because I don't really have any close friends here that are into the same music I am into. While I was at both concerts, I felt as if I just wasn't part of the festivities other than the music that was being played. Rather than taking part of the metal activities I listed above, I just sat back and listened to the music, and tried to enjoy it. But I still felt like I was an outcast because I wasn't wearing all black, or had metalhead friends, or whatever. I feel so out of place when I go to concerts. At least the music is good!

Does anyone else feel the same way as me?

go beat the shit out of someone and they will all be like wow hes one crazy mother fucker lets go get this dude stoned.(dont do drugs)

GWAR Live > Sex

I saw them disembowl Pope Benedict at Sounds of the Underground. I'm sure SOMEONE'S got 'em pegged for that one... :hotjump:

It was pretty funny how quickly all the girls fled the pit looking pissed when they started spraying shit everywhere.

I would also note how impressed I am that their blood doesn't stain. I definitely left my shirt covered in red and green goo in a hamper for 2 weeks and it STILL completely washed out!

For skin, i heard the red washes out right away, but the green and blue stains for a few days.
Oh man, that would rule. EVERYONE would ask you why you're all blue and green, so you'd have an excuse to tell them about the kickass concert.

GWAR = Funniest band ever.

In my experience concerts are really boring unless you drag a friend or two along to suffer with you. And the metal scene tends to be really elitist, which doesn't help...indie/experimental and ska/reggae concerts are the best in terms of cool people from what I've seen. Dragonforce was pretty good too.

All I have to say is that concerts would be a LOT more enjoyable if all the assholes and retards just stayed home...or is just that everytime I go to one, theres at least 1 guy I really want to just beat to death with a lead pipe....

I could have just seen me doing this at the last SyX tour..

"Stop *whack* jumping *whack* around *whack* while *whack* syphony X *whack* is *whack* playing *whack* The Odyssey *whack*

Add desperate guys to assholes and retards. I hate going to concerts and having people say that they'll "protect me". It hasn't happened in quite a while, but it's still annoying when it does. It makes it kind of hard to enjoy a show when you have someone practically stalking you the whole time.

Don't worry, I'll protect you from those guys that always say they'll protect you.

With your talk of violence, it seems you are the very asshole you despise at concerts.

I go to a lot of gigs on my own too. Although a lot of my mates like a lot of the music i'm into, many of them aren't really big on gigging. You have to TALK TO PEOPLE!! Most people at a concert are there for the same reason, so you already have something in commmon with people. Just chat to someone, at the bar, on the floor or wherever. Sure, not all people are going to reciprocate your chat, but some definately will. No point standin on you own, music is meant to be appreciated, and it's nice to be ablle to do that with a few people. So, my advice, find someone who looks reasonably happy and waffle nonsense at them!

i've met some really good mates just because I kept seeing them around and having a breif chat at certain venues. Now when I go down for a gig, I nearly always recognise someone when I arrive.

That's life man! It goes with the territory! Don't dwell on the assholes, find the nice people! i've always found the metal community to have some warm and friendly people.

ummm, ok, right. I have never, ever hit anyone or got into a fight with anyone in my entire life. Im taking about things that you wish you could do and get away with, but obviously you would never ever do them. and im not talking about normal jerks either, im talking about the ones who go to concerts not to see the band or enjoy the music, but to go and get drunk and just piss people off...

Headbang! Crowdsurfing is fun too, but it sucks when everyone feels the need to do it over and over again. Then it's just annoying.

Crowdsurfing is the shit, except for when 3 things happen, and those 3 things are when you get kicked in the face by a crowd surfer, when you have your stuff like your wallet, cell phone, camera, etc. falling out of your pockets, and when you're doing it, when you get dropped on your head.
