Official 2011 NON-Metal Thread - Hipsters Unite

anathema just released an album of orchestral/acoustic/chillaxed arrangements of OLD, GREAT songs. i think the concept is really interesting and it might make a good chill-out album

1. Crestfallen 03:06
2. Sleep In Sanity 03:53
3. Kingdom 04:27
4. They Die 02:10
5. Everwake 03:05
6. I Made A Promise (J’ai Fait Une Promesse) 04:22
7. Alone 07:15
8. We The Gods 03:01
9. Sunset of Age 07:39

that tracklist reads like some sort of erotic novel

this anathema album doesnt suck actually im listening to it now and it's rather nice and classy, sometimes it sounds like newer ulver (a la shadows of the sun)

i hear my dying bride did something similar but the thing is my dying bride SUCKS FOREVER and has always sucked since "i am the bloody earth" so who cares

it slays absolutely nothing man

it's probably THE wimpiest album in my collection, and that's saying something

that said, "the cry of mankind" is a good song, or well it would be with a vocalist who could sing

Your Shameful Heaven, listen to it.

yo people i want you to click this link http://www.shakingthrough.com/music then listen to the last song on "volume 2" which is called "again" by a band called FAMILY BAND. it's really beautiful, melancholic folk-whatever with a very good singeress

or you can listen to my mix of it which i like a lot. yes this is part of a project where the raw tracks of the songs are posted on the web so everyone can take them home and make their own mix. i made mine before hearing the official version and you can listen to mine instead :)

it's closer to the "real" mix than i thought it would be but a bit more necro. and in the second half i went a bit crazy with the reverb so its almost like slowdive goes folk rock (and if that aint hipster i dont know whats hipster)

first sample of the Lou Reed / Metallica collaboration.

Didn't Lou Reed say something along the lines of "this is the best album I've ever participated on" or something?

Dick ... get the soundtrack for the movie DRIVE ... killer stuff ... most of it sounds like M83
