I was doing some Christmas shopping (actually looking at the porn magazines) in Tower Records, when all of a sudden, I hear the guitars to Porcupine Tree's Blackest Eyes. So I walked into the DVD section and looked around a bit so I could have a good listen. Then, all of a sudden, after a few intense seconds of silence and me saying to my non-metal friends "That was AWESOME Porcupine Tree!" Benighted comes on! I was in shock! Opeth, on, in Tower Records! AND! Not only that! But about a month ago, they still had a poster up for Deliveriance on the outside window. I was extremely happy to see that. Just thought I would share my expirences.

Tower records rules. The one buy where I live (it's in Torrance, CA) stocks a lot of hard to find metal cds (Winds, Arcturus, old school In Flames, etc)

Oh my god, that would never happen in England! This country is crazy about pop/dance whatever u wanna call it! They got bloody Cliff Richard blasting through the speakers at record stores here :erk:

I constantly play Opeth in the music store I work in. Everytime I listen to Damnation I get all different kinds of people ask me "Who is this?"...and when I tell them they are a death/black metal band they can't believe it. I mean even the UPS guy liked it!! It's crazy sometimes the diverse people who like Damnation but who would be turned off by an album like Blackwater Park or Still Life. Kinda sad really. :erk:

lol england really does suck. HMV just reduced the metal section (which is mostly nu-crap anyway) near me, and i dont think i have ever heard anything metal being played.

although on the 18th of this month, i saw someone in an Opeth shirt in Aylesbury while i was in the bookshop i used to work at. i was so amazed i dropped the book i was reading and ran after him just to say hi!

its the only metal shirt i have ever seen in my existance in aylesbury, apart from a 'theatre of tragedy' one that i saw one day.

ive seen quite a few in nottingham though, there are some decent shops and very decent clubs in nottingham for metal.
