Orchid or Morningrise

"We recorded Orchid in 1994 with Johan as a session bassplayer. He eventually became a full- time member. "

That's from the official site. It is also known the Anders Nordin wrote and played the track "Silhouette" on the Orchid album. Therefore we can safely assume that he played the keys on both of those records in the studio. Per Wiberg didn't show up until years later.

man u dont have no idea what ure tlkin about....!!!....its a known fact that Per did the keyboard and also played teh lute on those albums......get yer facts straight mister........PEAC EOUT

Hmm, intresting how a lot of people seem to think that Orchid is the most inferior album(it is the first though so I guess they were just trying to find their feet) Still, I prefer Morningrise.

Orchid definitely....Morningrise is great but its just not as interesting as Orchid, though I guess that might be the product of Mike becoming a better songwriter. Orchid sounds a lot more random in a lot of parts, but thats why I like it more than Morningrise. Though Nectar is one of the best Opeth songs.

Both albums' songs are like journeys. They usually never repeat or go back to the place of origin, except Forest of October. I guess that's why people say it is random. I, personally, like songs better when they don't repeat, I mean who likes songs made from a template?

I can't decide which i like better, though. Both are two thumbs up!

Normally sarcasm is used to be funny or to make a joke. There was nothing humorous or funny about your post, so I assumed you were serious.

Morningrise is sort of like a continuation of the style they were going after with Orchad. While being an amazing debut, you can tell that the band was still in its infancy stages and hadnt reached its full potential. Morningrise on the other hand has the same feel with the dual guitar riffage and such, but they took what they did on the first album and expanded on those ideas pushing themselves a little harder than I think they were capable of when they recorded Orchad. Not to mention Morningrise was my first Opeth cd and introduced me to the world of metal so I may be a little swayed in my decision, lol.
