OT: The Official SPORTS Thread!

Boo for sports. Or, well, soccer (or football but that would make you people confused with the real deal ;)) finals are pretty fun to watch on TV.

Yeah, I like watching the finals but I can't just watch a meaningless soccer game.

The US National team can only do well when playing in the US, as seen in the '94 WC when they made it to the quarters and had a good showing against eventual champ Brazil.

I used to watch Aussie Rules way back when fledgling ESPN had to find more interesting sports to fill their time schedules ('80's). I thought it was a hoot.

The White Sox won the world series two years ago

The only thing more obnoxious than a band wagon riding White Sox fan, is a Green Bay Packers fan. Plus I DESPISE the American League. My neices husband wrecked and love I could share with the south side team. ANd they didn't even make the playoffs the year after!

You must really despise everyone in your area. I personally don't hate Bears fans but band-wagon Patriots fans.

I hate band wagoners. I've generally liked the Tigers for a good while, resigned to the fact that they sucked. But when they started playing well, everyone in my school was "OMG LEIKE I LUVZ TEH TIGERS!!!!111!!" It pissed me off that people that couldn't even spell baseball became the biggest "fans".

Same here in San diego with the Padres & Chargers, if they win the whole city all of a sudden turns into a bunch of Band Wagoners:puke: :puke: :puke:

What can you say, people like winning. Why would I fork out $50-200 to go to a game to see my team lose all the time? I would wonder what the hell my money is paying for.

Now, if tickets were reduced price when a team is in a "rebuilding" year or has already thrown in the towel, I wouldn't mind so much. I could save admission costs and buy more beer, get drunk and rowdy, and really cheer the losers on. Maybe they'd start winning with more fan support like that.
