Pagan's Mind/Stratovarius Chicago 9/25 Friday - Anyone going?

After seeing Pagan's Mind at PPX, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be at this show at the Pyramid Club in Chicago this Friday 9/25. Also, I've never seen Stratovarius. Anyone else going?

Awesome line-up...I'm going to have to check into going to this show. My guitarist is a huge Pagan's Mind fan and I really liked the new Strat album.

Maybe we'll see ya there!

Cool.
Pick me up some boobie stress balls and a carburator for a '74 Chevy Monza.

There are some cool things at this indoor flea market.

The metal stand there is very cool.
Best selection of Spanish / Mexican metal I have ever seen.
Tons of power metal too.
Prices are a little high, but they have some stuff you can't get in many stores.

My only concern is that the venue is (from what I remember) nothing more than a glorified sportsbar.
It may just be because with the Pearl Room closing, shows were moved by the theory of throwing a dart at a map of Chicagoland. With the short notice, bigger and better venues were already booked for that day.
People in the Strato forum are stressing out majorly over this venue. Apparently, some bought VIP tix for $$ and when they called the venue to see when the doors open, the staff has no clue what they are talking about. Anyone know this place and have any idea how they'd run a show like this? I had the impression it was a bar, so like, anyone might be in there w/o a ticket. How will they manage this type of an event?

BTW, anyone going to the Seattle show Oct. 4? Don't want to start a whole 'nother thread.

Not sure. It will be an adventure.

I plan on going. May drag my wife out. Don't have tix yet. I'm also curious how that will work at this place. Looking forward to seeing Septor and Sacred Dawn too.

Show starts at 7pm? Being a sports bar, I'm guessing doors will be open well in advance?

who in thier right mind would pay for the VIP ticket for these type of shows....WOW! you got a poster! Meeting the band is pretty easy at these types of shows and you really are not going to even get the time to really chat it up anyways. Why waste the extra money.

Latest update I've seen is that there will be a separate area for the show and they'll start admitting at 6:00PM. I agree on the VIP thing. Looked it up and you'd have to pay $70 plus about $10 in fees! :zombie: Totally not worth it IMO.

So, no one going to Seattle? :(

I saw WASP at a similar venue (sports bar...which was interesting, yet kind of sad seeing Blackie Lawless play in a sports bar). I'm sure there were a lot of regulars who went there that night, planning to hang out and watch sports on the 50 TVs in the joint, but if you wanted to get in, even if you were not there for the show, you had to pay the ticket price. I'm assuming that is what they will do for this.

I love it when you call a venue for information and the staff has no idea what you are talking about. Great management!

Apparently, there have only been like two other shows at this venue, so this will be fairly new. Hopefully things will go smoothly.

Yeah, I imagine there will be some bumps with a show for a band of this size and status.

You need your frickin' head examined to purchase a VIP Ticket.
$80 for early entry, a poster, and a meet and greet? Seriously????
I mean, to each their own, but even at the meet and greet, what do you get, 5 minutes to talk to the band? What are you going to say, "Great show, I love the new album, please come again" to which the band member will say, "Thanks, thanks for coming, hope to see you soon..........NEXT!"

good news to all the ladies in the house. I will be there now! I am very excited....the set list is great. Only a few songs I wish they were playing but to finally hear Destiny live will be worth it for me.

I'm starting to worry if there will be any tickets available at the door...it sounds like this place is small, and I'm kind of hoping to be able to buy my ticket when I get there.

And does anyone know if cameras will be allowed?

I was just going to post this question. Does everyone going already have tickets or are you planning on getting them at the door?

I'm kind of tempted just to buy them from www.enterthevault.com and not have to worry about getting rejected. At least they have a lower service fee than Ticketmaster.

I checked the Strato forums and have been very amused by the photo-shop Jens Johannson thread, haha
I wonder how the Boston show went. (I missed it)
