Pathfinder Promotions Complete Schedule June-November 2009

...so I had the opportunity to preview Tempest Reign this past weekend in Jacksonville, FL. And let me just say that if anyone reading this from the metro Atlanta area misses the July 25th show featuring Tempest Reign, A Lower Deep, Worlds End, and VOR - shame on you. :Smug:

I knew for a fact that this lineup stood to be great from top to bottom. But now that I have seen Tempest Reign in action I have fully underestimated my own show. The July 25th show stands to be nothing short of BAD ASS. I am more excited than ever to be debuting Tempest Reign outside of Florida after seeing their performance this past Saturday night. So don't you dare miss it yourselves.

:kickass:

Damn you Hoyt...damn you. I already felt bad that I couldn't make the 25th (well, most likely not anyway) and then you go and make a post like this! Ha ha.

so whose smiling faces shall I see Saturday night July 25th at the Local Concert venue in Marietta, GA?

everyone c'mon out and enjoy a great show - top to bottom! I have it on good authority that VOR will be unveiling at least one new original and they may surprise us with a classic cover as well.

And I do not believe very many of you have ever had the opportunity to catch Worlds End before their two-year hiatus. Let's just say there would likely not have been an Eclipsed By Sanity without Worlds End leading the way.

... how long has it been since you have seen the light of day? :heh: A Lower Deep returns to the Local with their own brand of dark progressive metal.

please join us tomorrow night as we welcome to Atlanta the debut of Tempest Reign! Trust me when I say that this band will kick your asses from the first note of their set to the last! :worship:

get there early because VOR cannot wait to start this show!!!

Any links for Ravage, Aska, among others? I only know TTD, Halcyon Way, and A Lower Deep. Though I've heard that Hallows Eve is somewhat legendary in some scenes...

if you follow the link through the fest poster above it will take you to the Pathfinder Metalfest site where you can find the links to ALL of the bands as well as see some videos and check a few sound samples. I need to update the player though.

Hmm.. Aska and Ravage are both quite traditional. I like what I hear from them. Zephaniah reminds me a bit Sabaton. Not as good of vocals, but just some crushing fist pumping metal. Good stuff. Seems like a really good metal fest. Nicely put together. I hope the tickets sell, because these bands, while not known to me, are talented. Jeremy will probably be surprised I don't know these bands ;)

Damnit, I was all set to drive up there after putting in some overtime at work, but I began feeling really sick and queasy (and also tired). End result: only 4 hours of overtime and no show.

Sorry you had to miss it Paul. Some pics should be posted within a couple of days (Thanks in advance Esa!). And for anyone else who missed it, shame on you! :p You missed a helluva show! Each band kicked copious amounts of ass, and Tempest Reign tore the roof off at the end of the night - just like I had promised! :worship:

When Tempest Reign returns, everyone from metro Atlanta reading this had best be there. :kickass:

Hey guys and gals! Geoff from VOR here! Just waking up this AM after last nights ridiculously BAD ASS show. Thanks to Hoyt and Pathfinder Promotions for the warm welcome into the drum chair for VOR and for the great comments last night. CLASS ACTS, these people are! The sound at the Local was top notch and they definitely pulled some strings for me with storing my gear so I could hang out for the other bands. Speaking of the other bands......PHENOMENAL! Worlds End....excellent stage presence and rocking hard tunes. I think my ears were bleeding from the volume after their set. Bad ass drummer too (thanks for your help loading out dude!). A Lower Deep.....wow. These guys are like a CLOCK....very solid meter and music. Digging the vocals and the outrageous 7 string bass!:kickass::kickass::kickass::headbang::headbang:Tempest Reign.....holy crap. Thats all I can say. I met Brent and was blown away...very nice approachable dude. Unbelievably fast hands around the drumkit. Awesome stage show from these guys especially on lead vocals!

Thanks again to everyone who came out. We captured our set on video and audio so maybe we can get that up on the information superhighway soon.

Til next time!
Later!

Fantastic show last night by all four bands!

This was only my second time seeing VOR, but I've been listening to their disc trying to familiarize myself with what I thought were twelve songs in their repertoire, and they go and drop a brand new tune on us last night, which was every bit as good as everything else I've heard from them. Definitely a great way to kick off the evening.

This was my first opportunity to see World's End, and they did not disappoint. As Geoff said previously, their stage presence coupled with great songs made for a very entertaining set.

Although I've seen A Lower Deep many times, this is only the second time I've seen them with Jason behind the kit, and he's already sounding like he's been with them since the beginning. Billy's voice was in fine form, while Troy and Tim jammed the fuck out as always...there's a definite consistency with this band that few others deliver...great job guys! :kickass:

I don't really know where to begin with Tempest Reign: this was one of those occasions where my expectations were already running pretty high, and I was still completely blown away! I loved the tunes I heard on MySpace, but I was certainly anxious to see how well they could deliver on stage...and these guys were a MACHINE. It was one of those shows where you see a band and you can't help but think they should be playing a much bigger venue to a shitload more people...to borrow a phrase from the sports realm, they truly "left it all out there on the field". It's not often you go to a show expecting a band to kick your ass and you still manage to walk away pleasantly surprised at what an unbelievably fucking killer show you just witnessed. :headbang:

I definitely got a hell of a lot more than 8 bucks worth of entertainment last night; thanks again to Hoyt for bringing yet another band to town that I probably would not have had the opportunity to see otherwise :worship:

Take a look back at this post and then know that I now have tickets in hand for $8 advance. Three of Atlanta's finest metal bands hosting Tempest Reign from Jacksonville, FL. You can't beat that with a stick! :worship:

I was just out at the Local today and they have updated the sound system, and also expanded the stage (front & center) just a bit to accommodate the new sub woofers. They are also adding much-needed baffling to the stage area. The shows to come in there are certainly going to be an improvement in sound. So come on out on July 25th and see for yourself.

(pssst - all the cool kids are doing it  )

Damnit! D'OHHH! I really wished we could've seen Tempest Reign!!! But we had an invitation to a Lake Birthday party & shari had been through a lot last week and all, we just needed to relax & chill somewhere! Sorry again bro!!
I do hope Tempest Reign comes back to the ATL!!!:headbang:

a review from an outside source:

Wow, the ringing in my ear has final stopped. I got to remember next time to wear some ear protection. I'm not as young as I used to be. Tempest Reign is a great sounding band filled with some really talented players. The best by far is the drummer. He kicked ass. That was some top notch drumming. I wish his drum solo went on just a little bit longer, I wanted to hear more. Next favorite was the lead guitarist. He had a great tone. You see that he really knew his instrument well and could play it. No simplestring of power chords for him. He was over that neck and pounded out some killer leads. I also though he had a great singing voice on the few section that he sung. His voice sounded similar of James Hetfield of Metalica to me. The rhythm guitarist was no slouch. It was obvious that he was highly talented as well. I'm kind of surprised that he did not make more of a showing because you could see he was doing more that just simple chords. He defiantly could have taking over a lead part or a solo.
The singer scared the hell out of me. He had the face and hair of Charles Manson and the body of a young Iggy Pop but more defined. He had a great voice and a lot of energy and stage presence. That just leaves the bassist. Well it seemed to me the only thing he brought to the band was his bad sense of style. His outfits stood out more than his talent for playing the bass.

Great show overall. They gave it 110% even though they had such a small audience. Thanks Hoyt for a great night out.

Stephen

for what it's worth, the bassist was fun to watch. Yes, he went through a couple of wardrobe changes, and maybe he wasn't a perfect musician, but he was a very energetic performer. The whole band kicked our collective asses that night. And I can't wait to bring them back! :heh:

I agree Tempest Reign kicked ass. Thanks Hoyt for bringing a good night of metal. I have to say i really love shows at the Local. You can do so much there without having to drive or walk. We had a good dinner then walked in right as VOR were going on. In between bands you can grab a bite to eat or play pool , play video games, basketball or just watch sports on one of the 50 or so tv's. Food is cheap and good bar food. 3.25 for a beer is good as well.
