Pet Peeves

What do you call a dick in a blender? I don't know, this is a first world question in need of a first world answer.

Why did the boy drop his ice cream? Because he was hit by a bus.

What's worse than a paper cut? The Holocaust.

Fuck you.

That's true. But I think that the concept of first world problems allows many people to suffer. Sure, they're not physically suffering, but some people are going through hell all the time, and because they have food and shelter, many people are denying them compassion.

I'm sorry that I think sometimes people do things just to get attention. I don't feel sorry for upset little teenagers who feel the need to adopt the idea that they have some fictional character in their head who is their true self...

or maybe I do, because I'd say that is pretty much a clear sign of needed some kind of help.

I do, however, feel bad for the hate and pain that transgendered people go through.

Vimana is getting it. Mort isn't.....or maybe is. If you peered into the lives of many of these "upset little teenagers", you would find out they are dealing with various amounts of physical or mental abuse, and finding an alter ego hero character is a typical response to handle the pain and try and gain strength.

Between foxnewsheads worrying about turrists and everyone else worrying about all things unPC, real issues go unnoticed.

I'm all too aware of the goings on within the mind of teenagers who feel helpless, unwanted, alone, etc. I was one such person, and I still can be that way, and maybe that would lead me to being more sympathetic - but as far as I see it there are healthier ways of dealing with those issues than creating an alternate self.

Of course there are healthier ways of dealing with it, but telling them to fuck off isn't helping.

Right. Gays, not transgenderism. I'm sure many of these dusty African countries don't appreciate the finer points of distinction for transgenderism, "they" are all just "homosexuals".

BTW, the use of "privilege" in arguments is a pet peeve. I was attempting to use it ironically.

Creating an alter ego is not necessarily a bad idea. It just has to be a realistic one that they can become through tangible steps. And they have to make sure they're doing it to gain happiness rather than to avoid suffering, otherwise their joy will continuously be associated with their suffering, making it harder to recover.

I hate it when people contribute to a discussion to tell people how bad it's gotten. Now we're back on topic.

Then I'll be aggressive. I don't think their appearance should be of any concern to you. Is it really that big of a deal that people do not look the way you want them to? There's far more to their lives than the opinion of one random dude on the street who they'll never speak to.

Oh for crying out loud. How the fuck do you know what's going on in the rest of their lives? I walk into their houses every day for my work and most of them are exactly the same. Same opinions, same tastes in music, same mannerisms, same bizarre accent. It's just another scene. I couldn't give a fuck how someone dresses but it's really not hard to see when someone is trying way too hard to look a certain way.

And let me clarify something: I have no problem with anyone dressing in a way that could be described as 'hipster' if they can pull it off and be comfortable. The thing that annoys me is kids 'out hipstering' each other to the point of absolute ridiculousness.

If you want to live in some 'live and let live' and 'no-one judge anyone else because we all have feelings' fantasy world, go right ahead. I won't judge you for it. Oh, hang on, yes I will. Fucking hippiefaggotbollocks idiot.

I don't. I'm just going on my experience never having met a person who bases their entire appearance on how a single person on the street seems to view them.

What's your job? You make a good point here, though. Trying really hard to fit can be kind of pathetic, even though it's human nature.

I kind of agree with this here. I guess I misunderstood your premise.

That's nice.

I agree. Judgments have to be made by individuals, and are made all the time. However, how they are expressed must be dependent on the response desired. One of the cardinal rules for public communication is "Know your audience". Obviously I ignore that rule on UM.

When people don't understand that Tinnitus is a real thing. My Tinnitus is actually a real bitch. I can't sleep if I'm not really tired or without TV or the fan on. There are times I can't concentrate and focus on easy shit like reading, writing etc. It requires constant noise pollution (which is another problem) and it really fucks me up at times. It's something that makes you feel scrambled.

When I tell people about it they usually brush it off like I'm either crazy or stupid, it's frustrating.

I hate post-modernist understandings of nationhood because they invariably massively reduced the theoretical and moral obligation on the authorities to represent the interests of the poorer groups that already resident in a given country and also because it's basically a blue print for cultural annihilation.

Have you tried the Ganzfeld effect? You might really enjoy it.

I found my stress levels skyrocketed downwards when I stopped feeling angry that some people say yolo and some people only aspire to get drunk and have sex. I think the same kind of thing could happen to others, but I only really know my own thoughts.

Then try blasting some white noise or playing Loveless on repeat. That album's noisy as fuck.
