Please for the love of GOD, someone enlighten me...

Once upon a time, this label was great. Now, it's this....

Still don't know why Jungle Rot signed with em recently. Odd choice.

Monetary resources would be my guess. VR has the power and money to get them into EVERY magazine and get the name back out there. we can all hate VR, but he built an empire and continues to make it thrive by exploiting hundreds of bands that will truly go nowhere, but sell enough albums for him to profit from while burying them in recoupables. it's a nice little racket he has got going on and most all of the big labels do the same thing.

That is pretty awful and Matt I blame you for it. HAHA
It is just the next mutated step for that hardcore, metalcore, or whatever the kids are calling it today. Half of these kids will get out of it while the others will jump to the next trend; not sure if Dragonforce and Nighwish is still so chic so we might not see many of those down generated clones.

vid didint work... ill have to try it again later maybe...

Really? I mean, is this a typical thing they do? I have no clue what goes on in the offices of labels but this trend even seems like very "scene-y" didnt that die back in like 07'?

I can take really band bands man but this is like shit worse than any highschool band that came out of anything near where we live.

EDIT: saw the video, that is still MUCH better than design the skyline in terms of it all being shit.

yes, that is typical of all labels pretty much. look at the other labels like Metal Blade, Century Media, etc. Sign a bunch of new bands and see how they do and go with the bigger ones and drop the rest.

I already know how it sounds, exactly, without hearing it, this is the only type of band we get to play with most of the time. Complete with sentence-fragment-name. The most bothersome thing is that so many bands like this don't even know completely why they play what they do or their style is what it is or the history of it. The approach is just as the label's, throw anything against the wall and see if it sticks.

By the way I hate this.

actually, we get blamed for a bunch of stuff like this since we were "lumped" into the deathcore genre years back when it started. i never understood it, except for maybe my vocals and the fact that our guitarist loved Cannibal Corpse and the GOOD Cannibal Corpse stuff unlike the kids now who played the easiest parts of CC songs to rip off, but oh well. it is what it is.

Also, no, I don't care if there is X metal band here or X metal band there or what have you that incorporate X trait/image/cheesiness/whatever portion of something this band/bands like this use. At least the crappy metal bands are not cluttering up every scene and every school every where, demanding that they be liked and respected because they got in on what's hip.

Also Sir Exar is right.

Yep, despite consistently signing shit after shit band, VR still manages to be one of the most powerful labels in that scene. I don't know how. Not many bands they sign seem to stick these days. Probably royalty checks from all the Taking Back Sunday and A Day to Remember records....

It just sucks that a label can go from this

Finally away from work, got to play both videos. First video, I was right about, exactly what I thought. Second video, very familiar with that...style too. Both videos, artistic death. They can't figure out what that has managed to creep into the mainstream in the past decade to go with fully, so they just use parts of all of it and suck horribly. First band, we hear the br00tulz maths techzzz obsession with some video game noises courtesy of the only thing anyone bothered to rip from DragonForce and coming down the home stretch with a blend of modern 'screamo' and this melo-indie garbage which is just the old Jimmy Eat World stuff slowed down with all that glitters totally raped from it. Second band, throws it back to 'the old days' when every kid was in a pop/punk outfit, then taking the worst of Reliant K and Blindside and creating something I can't imagine anyone waking up one day and saying "OH MY GOD YES. This is EXACTLY the music I want to create to express WHO I AM."

I don't understand, neither does anyone else truly, and we just give everyone and everything a pass because, it's tolerance, and well aren't we silly elitists also? and on and on and on and on for....what? Just saying.

And it's amazing how the audience... instances like this just make me think of how.........people just can't ever sample the whole platter. We've had a decade of this, in one form or another, but no, we just haven't had enough of the SAME THING yet. Please entertain us now by dressing it in pink and having it sound completely disjointed. I have played stuff for people from bands, metal and non-metal, both totally completely removed from things like this and even some stuff sharing perhaps a trait or two, and the dead, disinterested look on their faces is disheartening. The will to even HEAR something else is totally foreign and soul-crushing. But rev up... uhh..Design the Skyline, and they're totally amped and ready to go. Drooling all Pavlovian. Whatever.

By the way my Skyline-related name and band is better plus we were first, so there. Maybe they will get more kids to come to our shows by some kind of illiterate proxy, though.

I only lasted 1:45 before having to stop. Thanks Camden, for scarring me for life. It sounds evident that they are trying to be a carbon copy of Between the Buried and Me...except that unlike BTBAM they don't know how to play their instruments, have ZERO sense of composition and pretty much just try to throw as many sounds at you at once, hoping that it'll work without any reasoning behind what they are doing.

haha im sorry that all of you had to experience the agony but I figured I couldn't be the only poisoned one, haha

Man, I just...holy hell. With the exception of the Hatebreed, every video in this thread actually made my stomach churn, especially that "These Hearts" shit. I'm with you on this Camden, I don't understand what anyone could find of any value in something like that. It was painful to make it through each of those videos in their entirety.

That doesn't sound much different from most of the stuff coming out these days in that "genre" - Attack Attack and bands like that. I am out of touch I guess - I don't even know what you call it. It's like screamo, emo, or something. I've always found it somewhat humorous myself, as the songs are chaotic and fit 47 parts into 3 minutes that don't usually flow well. To each their own...

This kind of stuff is everywhere. I guess having a recording studio I get exposed to bands like this - kids come in and say "we want our vocals to sound like Attack Attack" - bring on the overdone autotune!
