ProgPower USA 2008

That's promising then because PPUSA just went off of my radar with the announcement of Amorphis (WTF?) & the fucked up scheduling of the bands :Smug:

As I said, if it wasn't for the undercard, I might not be going this year.
More than enough to keep me happy. I'm not thrilled with Amorphis as a headliner either. Seems like a lot of my fest cronies won't be going this year.

haha did you call me a bloody Canuck? I think iced earth will def' be historical dude, I'm not saying it will be a bad show, I'm just saying I'm not into alot of those bands. The ones I mentioned I dig alot though.

And being the french-canuck, I am actually jealous since I've never been to Prog/Power...ever, and would extremely like to go.

Power/true metal oriented. There's the Chicago powerfest which generally looks to have a good line up. Glenn always focuses too much on prog or mediocre power metal bands for my tastes just so he can get the kvlt prog points for introducing people to the newest thing. Good for him, doesn't work for me. Also, the whole vibe of the fest didn't so much work for me. I really don't think i've seen a lineup that had more than 3, maybe 4 bands i wanted to see (this year has 2 that excite me and one [Volbeat] that i think would be fun/interesting to see), and the social aspect of the fest is nonexistant to me. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

Wait, are people actually bashing Amorphis? As opposed to the prog drivel on the roster? Silent Waters aside, Amorphis beats the rest of them to a bloody dickcovered pulp...

The problem I have with this festival is that Glenn toes the formulaic prog/power line way too much when choosing bands. I'd like to see more interesting bands like Sieges Even, Alarum, Anathema and so on getting booked. Amorphis are a solid band at least (I need to look in to them more).

I don't find them to be headliner material, and I don't personally care for what I've heard from them. Maybe live they'll win me over. My dislike for them is nowhere near the level of PoS, or Manowar, for example.... Plenty to keep me occupied...

I like both old and some of the newer Amorphis. Hell even this song from 2006 is pretty damn good imo:
