ProgPower USA VIII Date

I booked a penthouse suite at the Residence inn Atlanta on Piedmont st.
They said it was an area called bucks head or something. Is this far from the venue?

Buckhead is a very nice, trendy section of town. It does have hellicious traffic though

I like this festival date! In all of the years past, the second-third week of September = 1st test date for just about every single one of my classes in college, so the later date helps me to avoid trying to study so hard in the between the show. It might also be cooler outside, too, by that time! :)

I just booked my room at the Super 8. I know it is a low rate place but considering how much time I am actually going to spend in the room $69.00 a night was good for me. I stayed there this year and it was cool..Met cool people (3rd floor rocked), plus you get a microwave and refrig to store beer and vodka and late night food. lol...

Hey guys/gals,

I have a call in to Residence Inn to see ifwe can get some rate decrease consideration since we can pretty much guarantee them full occupancy if they are closer to the rates they had last year. If I am not mistaken a few people got moved elsewhere because they were completely booked last year correct? At this rate (with their new price) they won't have squat this year from us.

I'll let you know if it works out. What price point do you all feel comfortable paying, realising that it will be a bit more than last year? I know I had paid $129 night for the "studio" I think they call it. Would $139-145 be a good target for you all?

Feedback please, thanks!

good for me man...i'll do $189 if they have more sausage at the breakfast bar...haha

Not really, and it's within distance from Marta (which I highly suggest you take). I work in the area, and the traffic does suck, but if you choose to drive, I can give you shortcuts if you need them.

Does everybody book their hotel rooms in walking distance? Just curious if its the availability of that area. I guess I have gotten spoiled of living 30 minutes from the venue. Maybe it would be cheaper to stay further away like the next county over and take a cab each night. Just a suggestion I guess.

*screeeeeeeeee* you asked for feedback ;)

yeah that price is a tad more acceptable than what we booked at the RI for. 189 a nite for a suite. It's rape I tell ya....they know we love the place so they figure they can bend us over and not even use lube, or give a courtesy reach around.

I do, because I have to be up and running by 10A and I'm usually out till around 2AM. And I don't have time to run back to my house (15 minutes from the venue) if I forget something. Plus, it means I can party instead of being home to rest.

 *Sniff Sniff* My birthday is on September 11 and ProgPower (for the past three years that I've attended) has always fallen on the weekend following my birthday. The festival has been like my own little (erm... and by "little" I mean totally awesome) birthday gift to myself for the past three years. Although I will most certainly still be attending ProgPower VIII, I guess I'll have to find a new way to celebrate my birthday come next September. Ce La Vi. Not a big deal..

I know.. the two ProgPowers I have been to have been around my Birthday (Sept. 17th). It was great for PP VI when I saw Stratovarius on my birthday! Woot! :)

But, all things considered, Glen did the right thing.. hotel rooms are VERY hard to come by these days. The most advanced notice is very much appreciated.

I called SkiBumMSP today, told him we need to make the reservations NOW!

wait
theres a fridge and a microwave there?

I don't remember having them last year. :-(

fuuuuck. apparently the Granada is already out of room. dammit. if anyone decides to give their room up, let me know.

Well this bites..

The Super Duper 8 doesn't take reservations this far in advance.

The Residence Inn is $179 a night for a King bed (what about two doubles or two queens??!!??)

The BW Granada is cheaper, but again for a King bed. $107 on Thursday, $125 Fri & Sat.

I so wish that the Hampton was still there... damn it to hell!
