i also think this thread should be closed as things seem to get out of hand and only make bad blood as some people dont seem to be able to have a proper discussion without insulting everyone else all the time.

Marvellous. Truly marvellous. A potentially interesting, intellectual debate about the role of extreme politics in music gets turned into a typical, US Vs Europe debate.

The basic facts are these :

Assholes exist in all countries, not just America or the European countries. And, at times, it seems that most of them hang out on the more serious discussion threads on these here boards... but I digress...

Although it is true that everyone is entitled to their opinion, it is my firm belief that those opinions should not be voiced unless they are intelligently defensible. Most of the opinions voiced in the latter half of this thread are not.

Let's face it, most of this thread has dissolved into stereotyping, personal insults, petty rivalries and generally, missives that are a waste of bandwidth.

Racism, national stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination are wrong, whether in the form of anti-semitism, ethnic cleansing, or just plain insults on a message board.

I was asked to close this thread, but I'm going to leave it open in the hope that things will return to the originally-posted topic, and there will be no more 'my country's better than yours' pissing contests.

With all due respect to Dill, I'll keep my mouth shut about where this thread went. The 'typical' anti-US bias displayed by *many* Europeans is what drove me away from the Blind Guardian forum. I like UM.com too much to do the same, so thus, trolls are ignored. Said trolls are free to ignore me as well, and we can all coexist peacefully.

Except for Stormbringer: DON'T make idle threats from the comfort of your own home. I'll go look up polemic if you go look up karma. You will meet the mountain one day, and it won't be pretty. And that's all I'll say about that.
