Recabinet

Ok I've done some real quick tests with a Bugera and Wagner. Are you sure you've included the correct files with the demo? From what I can tell these are still extremely dark impulses.

These are definitely the right files, this has been a very carefully constructed, time consuming update tested on many preamps with every software plugin out there. Wagner Sharp in particular sounds awesome with Recabinet, IMO better than many other amp simulators on the market for a Mesa Dual Rectifier type of sound. Very sorry and surprised to hear you say that. :err:

yes, I had the same first impression. they are still somewhat dark, didn't compare to the others directly and didn't test much yet though. I will see how they will turn out in a mix

It's worth noting that the Damien and Ghandi cabinets (Marshall 2x12 and Mesa Standard 4x12, respectively) are among the darker cabinets in the collection. That being said, the "cap" positions of both should offer plenty of high end. We chose these cabinets for the demo because they have the most defined, full bass response (great for low tunings and brutal riffing), as well as a nice smooth top end (great for leads.)

Experimentation with your preamp EQ, as well as post EQ in your DAW should get you where you're looking to be tone-wise.

Ok, so here are my comparisons with 1.03 and 1.04. I used the Ghandi "EL34 57 edge grill" impulse for both clips. Tracked one track per side, and this is my Triple XXX's preamp out into Pristine Space inside of Reaper. Drums are Superior 2.0 with minimal tweaking, just to have some drums there.

Short clips I know, but you get the idea.

I prefer 1.04 as far as the mids, but the high end on 1.03 is a little nicer, I may try a blend between them.

alright, thanks for the input!

Glad that worked for you... Hotmail's spam filtering these days is really inconsistent. Microsoft really fucked things up with the Windows Live initiative, and there's no end in sight, it's only getting worse. I highly recommend Gmail as a much better alternative.

Quick clip of my first death metal song in progress. Using my HellRaiser C7 -> MKIII (bass box -> 6505+ with Flathill Red tonestack on the green channel -> signal splitter (2x RIR with one Recab Ghandi from 1.04 and one GH impulse, blended 50/50) -> GR8) -> Cubase.

Honestly the Recabinet impulse filled the tone out a LOT. With just the GH it was way too thin, even with compensating for it with EQ before and/or after the RIR module. With just the Recab is was fuller, but not *as* clear as the GH, but together...holy crap. I think so anyway, YMMV. I think a big improvement has been made here (in 1.04) and also I'm finding that blending two impulses together really helps to create some good simulated tones.
