Recabinet

Thanks for posting that!

Trippy stuff, I like the music a lot actually. I will say that both tones are a bit strange, and both sound good and bad in different ways. I'm curious what your setup is as far as guitar/pickups? Also, is this the exact same preamp track on both clips, with the impulses being the only difference?

EDIT: just saw that this is the fireball preamp. I will say that the picking attack is clearer on the Recabinet version, but that the "vibe" of the mix is clearly more tuned to the GuitarHack version. Overall I have to wonder if some experimentation with the Fireball settings might yield some fuller sounding results, but that would require you to reamp it of course.

Yes, exactly the same pre-recorded fireball preamp.

The guitars were a Schecter Hellraiser (L) and a Greco LP with a BKP Nailbomb (R). The Fireball settings were (o'clock):

Gain: 8
Bass: 12
Mids: nearly dimed
Treble: 2

Bright: off
Depth: off

I don't have a reamp box, so I'm really stuck with the stuff I've already recorded. Both songs are 11 mins+ so I'm not going to record it all again! Like I said I had an EQ on both impulses, pushing and cutting different areas. Maybe I need to experiment with that. For example, on the Recabinet tracks I cut at 700, boosted at 100, 5k, 10k.

though they do sound clearer I cannot tell by now the huge quality gap Kazrog once metioned! still I tend to buy it because of three reasons:
1. my impulse library is huge as fuck and sorting good once out of crappy once is a pain in the ass
2. they're made in more consistent way. blending different cabs should be a blast.
3. bigger variety
haven't used it with altiverb yet, so maybe there's a chance to make them even better. but what I can tell by now they're surely even up to poidaobi, GH and metaltastic recent stuff.

+1, definetly buying it.

the price is also more than reasonable considering of how much use those impulses can be, the variety of different cabs/mics/mic positions in recabinet and the effort that went into developing it!

 I got my band's new album mastered by Alan Douches while the exchange rate was really good, indeed in June; saved me about 100 euro's at least! :)

Looking forward to trying these Kazrog - but I have to ask, who else is involved in this product besides you? The "we" has been making me chuckle, cuz I thought this was just your project

Ha! My brother has a limo business. He runs it all by him self. Always says "We" on the phone when people call or in person. Guess you can count the drivers. :Smug: It sounds "bigger" in a business sense, is what he says.

very true,

Kazrog does pretty well setting up a business IMO, my compliments!

by the way;

is there really THAT little difference between EL34 and 6L6 tubes as in the impulses of Recabinet? I can't imagine that being true based on my experience.. or am I just not hearing things properly? just checkin ;)

HAHAHAHA, totally!!! :D

I was just checking out the Metallica video thread thinking "where did my posting go". It's early-onset retardation ...

Or Metal Guitardation

Each copy of Recabinet 1.0 sold through the website will be individually watermarked for each person that buys it.
In other words - if you upload your copy of Recabinet to a Bittorrent tracker or other file sharing service, we will find it, download it, and know exactly who you are.

Great idea! I can speak from experience when I say serial numbers and via-internet license checkers don't work. Is there any way you could also watermark the individual impulse files too? I've seen some places where the impulses from Revalver were uploaded. They might not be the program but they're certainly a major part of it and I would consider that just as illegal and equally criminal to uploading the whole program. I believe this is why companies like FXPansion make their drum samples in a proprietary file format too. I know you put a lot of work into this and I'd hate to see that squandered by a random a-hole.

Also, on that subject, is the Recab. thing essentially just a well organized collection of impulses and can users add their own? I'll check out the demo too. I have found that the Line Out on my PittBull ( which is from the power amp signal ) makes a damn fine re-amp-able signal. I'll see if I can't upload some raw WAV's for folks to play with. I'll make sure the playing is a lot better than the Triaxis clips I got you a while back. : )

I think these impulses sound fantastic Kazrog. thanks so much for making the demo where we can use it full on till we have the money to get the real deal. I will be buying as soon as i get relocated and get a new job.

This is more how I like it. This is one JMP-1 preamp out track into Pristine Space with 4 recabinet impulses (1x i5&57 Ghandi and 1x i5&57 Damien, all EL34)

here's me playing some bogus sloppy high-gain stuff with wagner 2+recabinet

The difference is definitely noticeable, the EL34 tubes have more mids and a more subtle attack, the 6L6 tubes are more scooped and percussive. Different preamps/settings are going to show this difference more than others, also some of the cabinets in the full version show the difference more, in particular the Marshall Hand Wired, which really sings with EL34s.

anyone here want to be awesome enough to upload the demo somewhere?

i'm another one of those who have signed up for the mailing list/demo download(twice), yet who never received an e-mail...

This is very strange. I have to wonder if your email providers are blocking this stuff without giving you a choice to even view it? Weird...

Very sorry about this! Check your PM box.

Yeah I got the e-mail with the link, dunno what is going on with you guys that can't get it.
