I want some personal recomendations from dodens grav even though he's a fuckhead , j/k dude you're ok with me. Do not recomend me some obscure older death metal albums on shit labels because I have enough already ha. I'm not going through this entire thread. If you leave side notes describing the sound of what you recomend that would be killer.

Nothing specific at the moment, recomend a few things for right now. I'll get back with more specific wants later tonight or something.

Gods Tower, if you haven't already listened to them. Pagan Folk/Doom.
Witchtrap (Col) - Speedy Thrash Metal
Sorrow - Death Doom Metal that reminds of Winter, but more straightforward and Death oriented
Solstice - excellent epic Doom Metal
Isen Torr - Powerful, epic Traditional Metal
Jotenheim - see the above, with a singer that reminds of Chris Boltendahl
Redimoni - extremely violent Thrash, with hints of Slaughter and Possessed
Omen - just fucking listen to Battle Cry. US Power Metal at its damn near finest.

AL DI MEOLA-Elegant Gypsy

Amazing shredding. Tons of awesome grooves. Anthony Jackson on bass and Lenny White on drums. Think it came out in 76? Awesome jazz-fusion. Check it out.

I'm going to start working for a webzine soon and I need to broaden my musical taste/become more familiar with bands.

Here's what I like (I'll list my favorites from each genre. If I don't mention it, assume I don't like it)

Power (Angra, DragonForce, Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian)

Prog (Amorphis (only have Eclipse), Rush)

Death (Nile, Cryptopsy, Behemoth, Vile)

Melodeath/folk (In Flames, Insomnium, Dark Tranquillity, Ensiferum, Norther,
Kalmah, WINTERSUN, Agalloch)

Black (Only a little though: Burzum and Immortal)

I'm just starting to get into Mercyful Fate (LADY IN BLACK :kickass: )/King Diamond/Venom, don't know how to classify it though. What are some bands that I should listen to so people don't think I'm an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about?

P.S- Of course these aren't the only bands I like, just the main ones :)

I know it's been all of 45 minutes, but I need these recommendations now, since I'm going to the record store tonight

Great album. If you like that you should check out Casino if you haven't already. The debut sounds more like Return to Forever, but is still very good.

i've just been listening to black metal lately, so I recommend these:

Skyforger - Semigall's Warchant
Gontyna Kry - Welowie
Myrddraal - Blood on the Mountain
Klabautamann - Der Ort
Hellveto - Shadow of the Blue + My Eternal Hegemony
Sort Vokter - Folkloric Necro Metal
Demoncy - Joined in Darkness
Fullmoon - United Aryan Evil

and these as well:

Lord Wind - Forgotten Songs
Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence

I've been in the mood lately for some new slam-death style bands. Can anyone recommend some stuff along the lines of Stabwound, Wormed, or old Dying Fetus?

Now you guys see why this thread is useless and people make specific ones?
