Who the hell ever said there was a point? It's not really meant to have some great purpose, and certainly not to fiix problems. It's a very simple tool. Either use it or don't. People seem to be making this far more of an issue than it actually is.

If there is no point and it is only likely to make things worse then why turn it on in the first place. That was my point. I don't see what is so hard to understand about that.

I don't think it is that odd to assume that this thing was turned on for a reason and I'm just curious what it is.

Look at it this way, anyone who hasn't grown up enough and decides to abuse it, gives me a good reason to ban their ass from here.

For those that asked, rep system is something to help identify those posters who are truly helpful, insighful and all around good willed in their posting. Those who troll and annoy people for (mostly) no reason, get negative rep. I am a member of several web design forums for instance, and the system works and is helpful. It can do the same here.
