Riff Thieves

Servant In Heaven, King In Hell by Kreator and Blood On Your Lips by Sodom both use the same riff. Also, I myself have accidentally stolen this riff.

The riff 0:44 into March Of Insurrection by Eucharist sounds extremely similar to some riff by Mayhem. I´m not into Mayhem so i cant say which song i´m thinking of but i think it´s from Funeral Fog,anyone who´s into both bands that knows what i´m talking about?

The opening riff to Enslaved's "Eit Auga Til Mimir" sounds incredibly Mayhem-ish, but I'm very sure it wasn't ripped off of any riff Euronymous wrote.

It reminds me a lot of a riff in the middle of the song "Carnage" though.

The riff behind the drum solo on opeth's 'deliverance'.

ripped off of one of the songs on katatonia's 'tonight's decision' album.

The opening riff to "Dick" by Realm is suspiciously similar to that of "Tarkus" by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.

One that I heard the other day:

The first 15 seconds of:
Testament - Into The Pit
Lamb Of God - Laid To Rest

Fairly similar...

Bathory's "Home of Once Brave" heavily rips off Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls". It uses the same main drum line, and copies the ending verbatim (besides using screams instead of bell tolls).

the melody in the chorus of Rammstein's 'Mutter' sounds pretty much like Metallica's 'Unforgiven'
Yes Okay I've been trying to figure this out listen to Rammensteins chorus to Meil Tein or w/e I don't care about this shitty gay Germans bands fucking songs you know the one I mean. Well anyways the chorus sounds like a Part in Dying Fetus's One shot One kill were both singers are singing and saying Terror, one shot one kill does anyone else find it similar. Let me Know if you need me to clarify more.

WOW laid to rest and conquer all are rip offs of other songs:loco:

Bump, just to increase the likelihood that someone will post here instead of the copycat thread until that thread is locked.

I don't see the problem with a band copying a few riffs once in a while. it can get hard to make up original stuff sometimes, especially an entire album.

Sadly

Judas Priest - Beyond the Realms of Death

Bad Company - Feel like making love.

The priest song still rules overall.

If you mean that "duh-duh... DUHHHH... duh-duh... DUHHHH" part, I wouldn't say that counts much. But anyway, Cathedral also has a part that sounds like that in their song "Fountain of Innocence" I believe.

Someone tell me, that riff in Coroner's Masked Jackal that comes in around 25 seconds into the song, is that almost identicle to a Slayer riff? I recognized the riff the FIRST time I heard that Coroner album, but I haven't been able to confirm it.

No, it may have some similarities, but it's not almost identical. That style of riff was used by just about every thrash metal band in existence, as I'm sure you well know. You could pick any thrash band and find a riff similar to that one.

I can't, but FWIW Coroner's About Life at 0:25 definitely rips off Slayer's War Ensemble at 0:28.

No it doesn't. They are phrased differently and have different melody notes.
