I was talking to the wise Phloggy last night and if you read this phloggy, remember when I said utopia never have everything on my list so I dont need to worry about having such a big list when I go to utopia??
Well, just for future reference, spawn is an idiot who knows not what he speaks :D
Heres what I ended up getting from this trip to utopia (bear in mind i hadnt been for 4 weeks) I havent listened to any of these yet btw as im still at work and just got back.

Carcass-Heartwork: I bought this on the recommendation of someone as they said it was death metal without the crap vocals (I dont mind yelly vocals, but I hate screechy growls) so they may have lied and I wont like it, but Ill wait and see.

Volcano-Violent: Never heard of them, I dont even know why its on my list, but it was, so I bought it. There must have been a reason for me putting it on there, I guess ill find out when I put it on.

Tantric-Tantric: These guys are supposedly like creed, who I love, so I bought it. :)

Allegiance-Skinman: Aussie thrash band that aces told me was really good, so I bought it, seeing as we have pretty similairish taste :) Onya Aces :)

Entombed-Wolverine Blues and Morning Star: I downloaded 2 mp3s off of morning star last night and that was all I needed to be convinced to buy Morning Star, they kicked arse, then I read Wolverine blues is one of their best, so I got that too.

Control Denied-Fragile Art Of Existence: Some guys I didnt even know who I talked to at the Slayer concert while we were lined up in the rain for 3 hours told me this album is fantastic, they went on and on about it, so I figured there must be something good about it, thus it was added to the spawnsters list.

Destruction-The Antichrist: Thrash album I bought because it had a cool cover...erm thats about all I know so far..... :)

Gamma Ray-No World Order: AWESOME cover, and Gamma Ray is one of the best power metal bands, and seeing as im not really into power metal too much, thats a big compliment, did I mention the cover?? I love rebellion in dreamland and beyond the black hole too, they arent on the album, Im just saying :)

Slayer-Show No Mercy: One of the only slayer albums I didnt have, it was only 20 bucks so I bought it after the guy in the shop informed me that I had put 2 copies of Morning Star on my pile of cds for some reason. So obviously I had to go get another cd to replace it :D (Can you argue with that logic????)

I bought the Black album Classic album thingo on DVD too and the latest issue of terrorizer because slayer was on the cover, woohoo SLAYER!!! :D

Gees I bought a lot, they didnt have headless children, which I wanted as well (I mean the cd from the band wasp, I dont actually want headless kids) but anyway, there you go. :)

 How on Earth do you make enough money to buy that many CDs, Spawn? I can barely afford the few I buy each month as it is. Control, control, you must learn control!

For those who really need to know, my latest purchases are Strange Little Girls (Tori Amos), Operation Mindcrime (Queensryche) and Cross Purposes (Black Sabbath). I've given up buying things on impulse. Scenes From A Memory has shown me that things are not always as they seem.

That's what we were talking about last night. Apparently he doesn't have a lot of money. It only SEEMS like he has a lot of money.

OK, seeing as 2 people have asked what the secret is to having lots of money, or, as the wise phloggy has pointed out, having what SEEMS like a lot of money, I have decided to open up and let you know, for I have decreed the people on this board are good and thus deserve to know my secret.

You must follow the 6 steps, or as I call them, "Spawnys guide to existence"........

1/No girlfriend nor any prospective interested women to possibly have to impress

2/Not drink at all (you can drink water and stuff if you like, I mean beverages of the alcoholic liquid kind)
Though Sydos home brew is ok to drink and cheap he says, so bug him for some of that :D

3/Not do any drugs at all (Just as an aside, can you believe people have told me I waste my money by spending it on cds, and these people are the same that go out and get drunk and off their face on drugs?? Not that I care that they do it, but wouldnt you think its a bit hypocritical to be saying im wasting my money, when at the end of the day, I actually have something to show for my money and they have a hangover) Wankers. :)

4/Not go anywhere other than metal concerts (for instance, I havent been out since I went to the slayer concert :) ) Well ive been to work and stuff, I havent actually been out "socialising" is what I meant :D

5/Still live at home with mummy and daddy so you dont have to worry about things people in the real world have to worry about (mortgage, kids, bills etc. I do help my parents out with board of course, and if they ever wanted any money off me id give it to them, but you know what I mean)

6/Not have many friends as then you dont go out as much thus saving innumerable dollars. Well not innumerable, but a few, possible quite a few, but some nonetheless.
Actually even my parents think I need more friends, does anyone else think its wierd that when my parents go away, they ENCOURAGE me to invite my friends over and have a party? They say they can stay the night etc.

Then myfriends, AND THEN you have the secret to having what **seems** like a lot of money!
Simple right? But dont be fooled, Im a professional and have been doing this for years, just like the people in the olympics make it look easy, so do I :D

So, in the end, I buy lotsa cds to keep myself sane :)

Now, wrathy, what do you think of operation mindcrime? It took me AGES to get into, but I love it now, quite good indeed! :headbang: Especially I dont believe in love, that musical intro thingy and revolution calling!

Allegiance-Skinman: Aussie thrash band that aces told me was really good, so I bought it, seeing as we have pretty similairish taste

Ahh yes Allegiance...i'd also recommend gettin their 1st full length 'Destitution'...a bit more of a death metal influence in this one...but it's still killer Thrash !

While on the topic of Allegiance there Bass player (Dave Harrison) now struts his stuff in a Trad/Power metal outfit 'Black Steel' who have a killer little ep out called 'Battle Call' and are soon launching there 1st full length release 'Destructor'.

Spawn, that sounds exactly like me. I have very few expenses, yet I'm struggling to pay off my credit card which is in the thousands and thousands of dollars, all because I have a habit of buying the occasional CD or DVD. Oh, and on the day before pay day I only have a few dollars in the bank.

Actually, this is the old Spiff I'm talking about here - the new Spiff is making sure he saves money for his overseas trip, and he's doing well so far. I was going to buy about five CDs yesterday, but only bought two (In Flames' "The Tokyo Showdown" and the first System of a Down CD). That's called... actually, I can't think of what it's called offhand, but that's what it is.

Well, I couldn't be bothered writing 'the self-titled System of a Down CD' and figured 'the first System of a Down CD' was sufficient. Obviously, if the CD had a title I would have called it by its correct name, just as I said 'In Flames' "The Tokyo Showdown"' rather than 'In Flames' live CD'.

Happy to help.

..and second what ever happened too allegiance..they were good

Well like alot of bands Internal Conflics, Label Screw jobs and a dwindling fan base ultimately led to there demise...Really a Shame they were probablly WA/AUSTRALIA's biggest metal Export

Last yr they held a Reunion Gig for all the WA fans and although controversual drew around 600+ punters...most of the guys now have familes and jobs so there's no hope of a permanent reunion although another gig wasn't out of the question when asked...Dave is really the only Member thats still playing/giggin...although i've seen Tony Campo at a few gigs...hmmm

Ive got news for you Spiff, if that credit card bill was because of cds and dvds, you bought more than the occasional cd and dvd
The new Spiff sounds like he is doing much better at resisting the temptation, I heartily welcome him to the board and remind him to watch out when he is in cd stores, as the old Spiff is always there.......lurking......hiding.......waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Just like Jaws. Before he died anyway... :D

heartwork is fucking cool, that used to be one of my favorites :)
carcass rule!!!!!

Sage advice, Spawn. I already do all those things in abundance, so I can see that your way is the path to true enlightenment :). The main difference being that I don't have a job (it's part of the "starving artist" thing), so my CD buying binges are financed by the pittance I manage to scrounge from the government.

Operation Mindcrime *rules*, my friend. I can't believe it took you ages to get into it. "I Don't Believe In Love" is one of my theme songs (for reasons that should be obvious) and the rest of it is pretty damn amazing too!

I've also just got Demons and Wizards. Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but how cool is the digipak packaging?

I got "White Room" (Cream song) on mine, but there's a Japanese pressing with an alternate version of "The Whistler" included as well. AFAIK, the only place to find the digipak in Australia is www.chaosmusic.com , for the princely sum of $43.33.

Theres one with about 5 extra songs, 3 demos and those 2 you mentioned, im after that one!

What does that mean? If you are somehow bagging SFAM, beware!! It has recently propelled itself into my "finest few of all time" category. So watch what you say!! :)

Operation: Mindcrime is an absolutely outstanding album. In my top 5. Excellent choice on that one, my friend. :)
