If you're going to see it for visuals then you shouldn't go. It's about culture, legacy, and humanity. It's a masterpiece of a film, but I really doubt Spiderman fans would get it.

it's the second weekend that "skyfall" is number one in Italy,it never happened
ever since Connery's era, besides all the critics are good.Honestly I'm not a big
007 fan,but it looks like this one might be good to watch for me too
What if I watch it and think it's not that good? I can have that opinion without being an ignorant, right?
Right now, the movie looks just like your comment: with its head up its a$$.
I just doubt it's that good, that's all, call me a skeptic @sshole
You can have your opinion just fine. And you can have your head up your ass too, if you like.
I'm just saying that the film appeals to those interested in history, knowledgeable about it, and of linguistics, evolution, technology, psychology, etc etc. It's a thinking movie. If you go see it expecting an action movie, you'll only probably like half of it. If you go see it expecting it to wrap everything up at the end, or tell you exactly what is going to happen, what is happening, and then what did happen, you are going to be disappointed. It's not cookie-cutter shit like Avatar. It's not The Matrix. It's its own thing, and anyone who sees it would benefit from reading the book, or any books really. It's a movie for book and music lovers.
I have nothing but disdain for Jason Bourne movies. Awful bottom of the barrel garbage. Oh, and Goldeneye is the best bond film, but Connery is the best bond.
However, Matt Damon's summarization of James Bond is clearly just an idiotic way of trying to make his film appear more grand and meaningful.
Having said that, the problem is that of assumptions. He made the assumption that you most probably won't get it based merely on your liking Spiderman stuff, and you made the assumption that what may be a great and thought-provoking movie is probably not that good based merely on a trailer. No big deal.
