The Books/Reading Thread

Nah only E.C. Hellwell contributed to these. Did you hear somewhere that he was making a contribution? E.C. Hellwell's story is called The Riddle Master, sounds moorish.

I'm currently reading poems by Rabindranath Tagore called "Gitanjali: Song Offerings". Fucking classic. Not surprised he got Nobel Prize for it.

I reserved a copy of this book earlier today, it sounds like a great read, shipping's a killer to Australia though.

SYLVAN DREAD: Tales of Pastoral Darkness

Richard Gavin

From the author of “At Fear’s Altar” and “The Benighted Path” comes
SYLVAN DREAD, Richard Gavin's fifth collection of preternatural tales.
Bound within are thirteen nightmares exploring the Sinister Pastoral,
the dominion prevailing at the intersection of mortal reckoning, and the
primordium of Daemonic Nature. As a meditation on the forces of
predation and parasitism, monstrous fecundity and decay, and those
hidden folk who occupy the spaces between the branches, this new
collection evokes the primeval wood — the place where all dreams and
nightmares begin. In this isolate copse we witness the excavation of
abominations long earthbound, the twilight of the rational, and the
forgotten violence of the Dionysian Rite. A FINE CLOTH VOLUME IN DUST
JACKET. Three Hands Press, 2016. Limited Edition. 192 pages. Tall

^ That's a masterpiece. I read it like a month ago. Nothing really interesting happens there, but the ambience of the landscape and Norway in general is enthralling.

I'm currently reading dramas by Henrik Ibsen. The Doll's House is the most recent one.

Doll's House is a classic. I actually saw a staging of this one time where the husband was played by a...little person (whatever the proper nomenclature is). It worked for his character. In the end the curtain dropped and the wife was surrounded by an opera house backdrop with painted male faces and she was naked...in the last few minutes she also pulled a wig off and she was, apparently bald...completely naked before the judging male eyes

It was impressive
