The Books/Reading Thread

They haven't charged me for it yet. But I just talked to the lady last week about why it isn't there and all she could tell me was "it's still on order." I'd go somewhere else but it's impossible to find for some reason.

I was drawn in by the tempting allure of The Rule of Four. It's not a very well-written book, but it's interesting and a page-turner. I've had it for two days and I'm about two-hundred pages into it. I should be done by the weekend.

^That book is in my university bookstore and I've always wanted to read it! I've picked it up on a few occasions when I passed by and read the first couple pages. How is it?

I am a huge book worm but get ADD and can't focus on one book because I have so many I want to read.

Currently reading:

American Theocracy - Kevin Philips (Heard his stance on oil is pretty legit)
Slaughter House Five - Kurt Vonnegut (Because I never read this as a child for some fucking reason)
Brave New World - Aldous Huxley (Again with the missing childhood thing.)
I Will Teach You To Be Rich - Ramit Sethi (Awesome personal finance blogger I have been following for years with realistic approaches to saving money)
Mein Kampf - Adolf Hitler (Book is gigantic, taking forever to get through)

I bought it today and read the prologue. It has high acclaim and looks to be a great read. That and when I got home I turned on the History Channel and there was the author himself in a documentary on the battle of Alesia.

EDIT: @Zeph

Nice. Caesar was an incredible figure; his stand at Alesia is one of the most impressive victories in history.

Also, Jeremy; I mentioned two posts ago that I'm reading the book The Rule of Four. It's about a Renaissance text called Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, and the mysteries surrouding its meaning. Lots of the book is just conjecture and fantasy, of course; but it presents a lots of interesting possibilities. Have you ever read about that text before? I own a translated copy (the original text is in Latin, Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew... the works), but it's a fucking dense read.
