The first blast beats

Yeah, I've heard blasts used in jazz. Saw one band live, they were all old guys, playing some laid back stuff, then the drummer just let rip for about 20 seconds during the guitar solo, it was hilarious, totally not what you'd expect :D
This was only a few years ago, but yeah, I'd be surprised if blasts were the sole creation of a metal band.

I've just found the record I was talking about earlier. It's by the band The American Dream and the song is "Cadillac" off their selftitled album! Although not very long (maybe 10 seconds or something) it's a blastbeat alright (more real blastbeat than the one I mentioned by The Yellow Payges). The record doesn't have a date, but I think it's from 1970 or maybe 1971.

I read an interview with Danny Lilker and he was asked what was the first recorded blastbeat. the title belongs to D.R.I. . but its only one song of their Dirty Rotten LP which is called " No Sense" and its a true blastbeat. forget about Discharge,Venom , S.O.D. , etc ...
