the first some what extreme metal album you heard... and liked

Carcass - Heartwork

I saw the video for "No Love Lost" on Headbanger's Ball back in the day and immediately bought the album. Around the same time, I heard Deicide's Legion and that blew me away as well.

Ok this is probably pretty sad but all i used to listen to is thrash metal, and like Alternative rocks bands such as Three Days Grace. But when Becoming the Archetype came out with Terminate Damnation i decided to give death metal a try and now like umm 2 or 3 years later? well ya now all i listen to is this kind of music.

I can't remember which came first, Opeth or Therion but I thought that shit ruled. I gravitated towards black metal and once I checked out Darkthrone, Immortal, and Burzum I was sold.

Interestingly enough, though many people list Cannibal Corpse as being the band that introduced them to death metal, I still to this day have yet to listen to a single CC song. They seem like a band I'd hate anyway.

I used to pretty much only listen to power and prog (I used to think Kamelot was extreme- hah) but then I heard Insomnium's "Above the Weeping World" and I've pretty much been hooked on extreme metal ever since. It's such a great album.

Insomnium was my gateway band :)

My first metal record was a used LP of Metallica's No Life till Leather. It was a birthday gift from my uncle back in 86. Over the next two years I pretty much absorbed all the thrash I could get my hands on, but the first extreme metal (as in the modern definition) album must have been either Deathcrush or Blood Fire Death, in the late eighties.

LOL i dont really mind bands like oh satan this and oh satan that but the bands that sing about disgusting things like that i cant stand!!!
