Continueing...

This is up close to my roommates BURR tower... Notice the Obsidian farm on the right, and the Spider-proof walls with ledges, very key.

BURR, BURR.

Cactus farm, self-harvesting and my mountain in the distance (did a little clockwise circle of our area).

Harvest ready.

And this is pretty much all I've done... I dug a pit, and have water falling in it. :/

The screen of the Cactus farm was taken from atop the Train Station. Im not going to go back to spawn-point, took too long just getting these

Oh, my roommate also made himself a Monster Masher.

Cleared an area of trees with fire.

They get stuck in the water, which pulls them to the center, they either drown or get smashed on the cactus, with a collection area similar to that of the cactus farm.

He caught this guy while showing it to me.

Also, I've totally lost the will to do anything in minecraft after I saw someone make an ALU. I realised that's pretty much the most awesome thing that will ever come out of Minecraft, and that it pretty much stops there.

Can you explain in laymans term what it is? A simple computer?

It's not a computer yet - but it's a very important component of one. It's the part of the processor that makes simple mathematical and logical operations. But the thing is, once that guy is built, it's pretty much a proof of concept that you can build a computer, all you need is patience. If someone made a screen and wrote a JVM, you could actually run minecraft on minecraft, which is incredibly cool.

The sort of trapezoid shaped things are ALUs. The other components require more or less the same amount of work to be assembled, except for the memories (these can be pretty large). I guesstimate that other than the memories, you'd need more or less five times the work spent on the ALU to design the rest of the processor.

Same roommate was telling me someone made an Altair computer in minecraft, using the doors as On and Off lights.

He's just as nerdy with computers and technology as you, only he studied history in Uni, benches 215lbs 3X10, and wears Bench Jackets...Total douche who actually knows what hes talking about, its hilarious.
