yea, I guess you have a point there. I was originally thinking of albums like Det som engang var that are very deep/complex in composition but very amateurish in technique.

I guess I would put Dream theater at the top, but I listen to all of their work and have for so long that I have been numbed to how technical they are to a new listener. Behemoth is technically brutal when they try to be, as well as Nile and Spiral Architect.
