The Never Ending Now Playing Thread

Haven't heard Weiland yet. But I really like "Where At Night The Wood Grouse Plays" - is it any similar?

Not really IMO. It's acoustic, but in a totally different way. The atmosphere is really different, the melodic complexity is incredible (there are violins, cellos, flutes, fagot, etx), also the main singer here is Helm (still you can hear Markus, even doing some grim vocals here and there). Really hard to describe, but as Markus himseld said: with Weiland he reached what he was striving for with Empyrium.

Atari Teenage Riot - Kids Are United
Delete Yourself! (1995)

Yesterday I found out they'll play a few comeback shows in a few months. I'll definitely go, however it will be strange to see them without one of the founding members, who died several years ago.

oh man i just discovered a new band for me to go totally crazy about: ISIS ! :headbang: it was on my "to check out" list at least for a year now, and i finally got around to do it... it's fcking AWESOME !!! listening to "In the Absence of Truth" right now... ♥

oh, and yesterday i discovered Rosetta which is also pretty awesome, especially that weird stuff with The Galilean Satellites:
the goal was to record two albums of equal length (one a metal album , the other a noise/ambient/drone album), each of which could stand on its own two feet, but together would create a richer, more rewarding experience. The band recorded the album in quadrophonic sound which lends itself well to the bands unique experiments in noise, sampling, feedback and power.
i have listened to both Combined and Disc 1 only versions, and it's just amazing! Never heard of stuff like this before... o_O

If you like Isis you should definitely check out Neurosis, cause basically Isis wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for Neurosis' Through Silver In Blood and everything that came after it.
Very influential album, more than those bands are ever gonna admit.

haha thnx, i knew you would say that as a Neurosis fan :) yeah, i had them on my list too, but i kinda got it backwards: first Rosetta, then Isis, and now i need to listen to Neurosis...
