The New album is called Watershed : Out June 2nd

You'll be able to read a story on Opeth in an upcoming issue of Decibel.

I'm not a sound engineer, so we might not speak on the same terms. I do feel it's warm, bright, dark, and, at times, purposefully disruptive.

and my last question hahaha, do you think that it will divide the opeth fans on people that will love this and hate this?
thanks very much Victorialand.

If you're a fan of Opeth, I very much doubt this album will divide unless you strictly listen to the pre-Orchid rehearsal tapes. Then again, people are fickle and unhappy with just about everything. My parting shot will be this: If you appreciate Opeth for the expression and can be emotionally and personally attached to that expression then this album will leave you speechless.

I know what are you talking about is something that I felt when I hear damnation, when I hear reverie, (the intro of harlequin forest), when I hear creedence, the Opeth`s taste you always know that is opeth, different songs structures but Opeth anyway

I was a little bit creeped out when the guy said the new album was not metal-sounding. 'Heir Apparent' sounds sweet though!

^ It's metal no doubt. Just be prepared for lots of different things happening that haven't happened before. And all of those things are good things.

^ If it's an influence it's not readily apparent. Not from the SW music I've heard.

Ok...one question, does Mike go weird with his vocals at all? because he's always been very controlled in his vocal performances...I assumed that was the Scott Walker influence

^ It's controlled, but there are plenty of surprises. And lots of growth/confidence, which are good things. Again, I don't hear the odd or ambitious SW influence here.

This is great stuff. Thanks Victorialand. Was the listening session for Decibel, then?

This is starting to resemble a System of a Down board full of 12 year olds before an album release :erk:. In time, all these questions will be answered by the metal media.
