THE...NEW....NEVERMORE...

there are tons of bands that have great songwriting like that...I'd say as far as Nevermore albums go, this new one is the least "catchy." Born is just one of the few songs...check out all the other albums...

You're right. With this one one needs to listen to it many more times. At the moment, okay, I hear good riffage and so, but falling in love with it is not "first-sight" so to speak. Dead Heart in a Dead World was almost instant for me. It's a better CD for people who want to get into this band.

hmm. i enjoyed this one more from the start than i did deadheart when it came out. i felt dead heart was a bit...light and overpolished at first. at least compared to dreaming neon black. every album of theirs is solid though, i really have no complaints...especially with the new one.

...which I still need to get, good sir. am i still blocked?

Politics of Ecstasy is the one that does it for me. This Sacrament, Lost, Next in Line all are heavy rockers not to mention The Learning which has some of them most memorable riffs they've ever penned.

While I certainly feel the skill dripping from the album, I really dont like Nevermore in the sense of an overall package (sorry for the commodity term, you know what i mean).
Sad really, considering Loomis has some amazing riffs, as well as very nice melodic runs.

The vocals/lyrics are the final blow, take "Born" for example: Can we PLEASE stop with the cliche anti-authority messages in metal? Yeah, its called Black Sabbath and they did it 40 years ago. It was just as ridiculous and naive then as it is now. There are so many themes in life, a little variety would be nice.

can we please have an ultimatemetal forum member that doesn't talk out of their ass?

Born has one fucking great chorus...Not to mention that THAT chorus has one of the most amazing riffs I've ever heard...Very beautiful notes.

Oh, right, metal is well known for its amazing lyrical content.

The vast majority of metal sucks, and so do the lyrics.

^ Youre not exactly unbiased in your opinion of me considering our little spats.

The irony in you all telling me I talk out of my ass is wonderful.

the lyrical content of Metal isn't any better or worse than any other genre in general.

wait....thinking of the lyrics of POP, RAP and Country...

Metal wins.

dumbass

Yeah, it's more down to the individual band rather than genre as a whole. The vast majority of lyrics out there suck, in every genre. Don't even get started on that obscure German ecstasy-trance shit...

'I like to get high...' *duff duff duff* 'I like to fuck' *duff duff duff* 'I like to party' *duff duff duff*
