saying Orphaned Land owns Nevermore is like saying Hoobastank owns Led Zeppelin...retarded. People are really idiots for saying a band sucks because of the vocals alone. Jeff Loomis' songwriting, riffs, solos, feel EVERYTHING owns what unoriginal, uninspired noise Orphaned Land has to offer. Disillusion sucks too, and so does Isis...christ people get into real bands.
The music of Nevermore is at least mediocre+ but the melodramatic vocals just aren't "doing it" for me.
The first riff of Medicated Nation is quite similar to some Zyklon song... Storm Detonation maybe?

That's the thing about Nevermore I don't think you're getting, Trey. Their riffs aren't needlessly convoluted, as is generally true for their music in its entirety. It took me a while to get my head around that, but once it sinks in, you appreciate them for what they actually are.

I was talking to Andy Sneap in the crobar in london a couple of weeks ago.
He said the Loomis was by far the most astonishing guitar player he had ever seen / or worked with.
To say that he sucks or is useless, just shows you know nothing about the art of playing the guitar.
